1. Valley of chrome 2. Typecast

VoC and Typecast have been around for ages. never heard of black gulaman though.

Matagal na ba sila? pero cguro ngayon nlang sila naging mainstream.. hehe! :D

Ung Black Gulaman, finalist sila sa muziklaban '05 and they're good.. They're actually my friends.. gusto ko tlaga music nila... :twisted:

valley of chrome has released a few EPs before releasing their first album, Love and Devotion. Kim used to play drums for VoC but eventually left prior to recording the said album.
typecast has released two albums so far: Last Time and The Infatuation is Always There.
i've never really been impressed with the bands who've participated in muziklaban (with the exception of comet's tale). but heck, i'll give black gulaman a go. got any mp3s by them?

sodajerk's been around for ages too. that was ryan and dale's project prior to forming apple orchard. never heard of A Life Spent Learning though. could you share some info about the band?

Medyo gasgas na ang Orange & Lemons. Pero definitely, binabalik nila ang past sa modern times ngayon. Sila lang ata naririnig ko on radio na ganun ang tunog. Even if they have the issue about the "Pinoy Ako" song...I have to commend how good they are when it comes to songwriting. Lahat ng singles nila sumisikat, even that new Sunsilk jingle...
And yes..Paramita is a unique band. I love the idea of a drummer-vocalist.

hello, i don't mind that you like orange & lemons but i'd just like to point out that there's loooaaads of bands that do that whole mixing past music with modern music thing. :wink:

Then guys from Paragon Records told me..............."Kung 'di pa nag basag ng bote ng beer sa canteen si Dodong (because of a promise that was never given to him or he ever long for), hindi niya makukuha yung award.................
Because it is a marketing strategy.................... e.g. -->"Uy nag Gold Record Award daw yung album ni Dodong Cruz.......Bili tayo, mukhang maganda"
Ibig sabihin sa real score yung Gold Record Award ni Idol Dodong...........Is just an "imaginary"............."Bait"..............."Paen lang"..............."Strategy".................To make you buy the album.
I am not saying that every Record Awards are all imaginary................ You have your instincts and discretions to know if things are real or not...............There is no harm in believing with what you hear or saw but just try out a little bit enthusiasm to discover the truth.
Cencia na sa OT:...........By the way "if you will observe the MTV of Paramita................You will find that the Fills that she made with that loads of cymbals...............compare to the real song..............are not applicable..............You won't hear lots of cymbals........just toms and snares...........
But I like the pretty vocalist anyways............

I don't get the concept of the music video though... What's the connection of the song with the guy in a mask? Tapos may bleeding nose etc. pa...

It's really easy to glaze over the mediocre bands nowadays. I don't even want to call them bands eh. Kasi alam ko pag banda ka, it's either you're a cover band or one that does originals, not rehashing songs and passing them off as originals.
Radioactive Sago Project: now here's a band. Original and very fresh to the ears. A new sound that most kiddos weaned on PopTrash can't grasp.
I heard this one band singing this Tagalog song that had an impromptu speech near the coda. Dammit! Ubos oras. Sayang lang pera mo pag binili mo ang album ng mga retards na yun.

Maybe tinutukoy mo yung "Lagi Mo Na Lang Akong Dinededma" by Rocksteddy.
"Mahal kita, pero di mo lang alam.." The song goes like that. Wala pa naman yatang album ang Rocksteddy, kaya kung sila nga, nothing to worry about...yet.

UPDATE: Just saw the album of Rocksteddy today. Kung sila nga, there's one thing CD to check out para uminit ulo mo. Pero ako, okay lang sakin. Kakatuwa naman yung kanta eh.

any idea why kim left? i have to say VOC, Typecast, , bronman revival and 18th Issue even if they've been around for a while. most people are just discovering them eh. and up dharma down, paramita.

her reasons for her departure is unknown to me. i don't think the publicized it. though i think the new kid's a better drummer, having a female drummer did have its benefits for VoC (ie. added wow/cool-factor for the band).
the neighbors, one of the best bands you've never even heard-of. they've been around for a while and have released two albums to date. one of the best ska acts in the country atm!
18th issue, err..sorry to the fans of the band, but i seriously think this band is overrated (not like you care, but i also believe that urban dub is overrated). sure, the whole band's a bunch of virtuosos who were probably trained to play since they were in their mothers' wombs, they really are good players. but just like perf de castro, they should probably just teach guitar and not bother to write songs, not collectively anyway. the stuff that i've heard by them is so rock-cliche'. their stuff would probably sound good to most ears but to mine, they are dull and boring. i lost my interest in the muziklaban BOB's since they won it.

i don't know kung qualified ito.. but i heard Dondi Ledesma's album and it blew me away! lahat ng instruments sya ang tumugtog and puro lead guitar parts pa. pero ang matindi dun, di sya gumamit ng electric guitar sa bass lang sya nagsosolo.. basta matindi yung albums nya :D

i swear urbandub have been around for awhile now... anyway, i'm currently listening to their new album and i love that song first of summer, lol. sounds a bit rushed though... but maybe they did that on purpose so that people would put that song on repeat? hehe.

yeah urbandub has been there for a while and I was even able to watch their gig in cebu wayback..
btw about that song I guess that was intended cause everytime I play my dub cd I repeat that song... Its a standout... pwedeng soundtrack or something... galeng galeng galeng! even my cuzin from the states swear he loves this band... he tought they were foreign...

about first of summer, i love that bridge before the outro! that bit with the lyrics "anywhere with you"... so cool! by the way, i think the singer pronounces some of the words in that song funny. some words sound so exagerrated, hehe. s'all good though. 8)

Well they belong to diff genre . So its hard to compare. Both have matured in songwriting and production.
Album sales... Updharma down's album is sold out in Tower records yesterday..
for a more laid back afternoon, id go for urbandub but for smooth nights or bedtime stories updharmadown for me

This is worth noticing, di ako masyadong mahilig sa reggae, but after watching these guys, I really enjoyed it! This band is tight... Cofeebreak island. Bihira ako makakita ng Reggae band thats impressive.

Nuncyspungen. Heard their records a while ago. Now I know why the South Sound rocks!!! Faspitch is okay. The Ambassadors are helluvafun!
Maryzark and Typecast. If ever we have to pit these bands against their foreign whining contemporaries, they'll have the upper hand.
Up Dharma Down, Pedicab, Radioactive Sago Project, Severo -- bands which challenged the mainstream. The new band, Salamin is good, but I think they're just this rocked-out version of Severo. (Severo vocalist and Salamin drummer are brothers, right?)
Imago. I know that Kamikazee's fun onstage, hence their second win of the NU107 Best Live Act award, but heck, these guys are more radiant. You get to feel the song more.

when you say proggressive rock, it means you are thinking out of the box of all the musical Generics na lagio na lang natin naririnig.... they explore other things... they play other music.... flexible sila... at kaya nila pagsamahin yun.... hindi mo naman kailangan maging super galing para maging prog kasi hindi yun yung main essence nila... mali pagkakintindi mo...
kaya ko gusto yun kasi i learn from them... hindi ako static sa iisang music, nageevolve... kaya maraming lumalabas na magaling dahil sa essence na ito... umuunlad sila, ako nagaaral pa lang ako and i love prog music, i support them, kaya masasabi ko progista na ako. tsaka nasa tao yun kung ano musical interest talaga niya... most progista eh talaga gusto nila yung genre na yun kaya nagpraktis tlga sila kaya they make fantastic songs.... out of the question ang dalawang question mo... malabo... define mo mga terms mo clearly para maintindihan ..... general masaydo eh... kung poser pla siya eh di poser.... kung tugtog siya ng prog pero ayaw pla niya yun eh di hindi siya progista.... ganun lang yun eh.... ask mo rin sa ibang genre yan.... katulad ng emo... maguguluhan din syo yun... :mrgreen:

you don't actually need to be a virtuoso to have the right to like prog. my brother doesn't even know how to play any musical instrument, but he loves spock's beard, and dream theater and of course EN eheheh syempre proud utol yun. :p
if you like a photograph... do you really need to understand the technicalities of the craft to appreciate a good photo? you just see it as something beautiful, or a photo that means something to you. you really don't need to know how that particular photo was taken... what lenses were used... what the settings were etc. to appreciate it.

1. pedicab 2. sino sikat
i dont like cambio. I mean, if you take them apart, ok sila. Buddy in base and Ebe in Patlang, they're great! they sound really cool as well thanks to raymund's songs. pero yung vocalist nila na babae, gosh...is it just me or is she sintonado? because she sounds terrible to me. lalo na pag nagdu-duet pa sila nung the other guy (sorry i forgot his name)...i just have to turn away.

FYI lang, the "sintunado" singer is Kris Dancel from the Fatal Posporos. She replaced Ely as lead singer of the Heads when he quit. The "other guy" is Diego Mapa, also of Pedicab and Monsterbot.
Give them a try again. Perhaps you caught them on an off-night lang.

Eternal Now- madyo matagal na sila pero bago ko lang kasi narinig music nila...wow...grabe inspiring tlaga sila...tsaka babait pa..hehehe...
