depending sa speed, one may or may not shift down. pag mababa na road speed / engine rpm, i shift down....

...plus i want to be able to gun it at will, medyo mahirap sumibat in 2nd gear at mababa rpm 

Ah, pang contemporary 5 speed na kotse ang tip ko sir pag 4 speed syempre sir pwede mag 1st gear, kasi, yun nga gear ratios 
Siguro dahil sa ratios lang pero so far lahat ng MT na namaneho ko pag ginun mo yung 1st gear habang gumagalaw naman yung kotse hindi naan ganun ka-responsive, kaya sa 2nd gear naman ako 

pag mababa naman ang RPM, yun nagbblip ako ng accelerator. pero wag tularan yun maaksidente kayo pag mali ang execution 

Also, regarding not stopping at an intersection. Sige, sabihin natin ikaw sure ka na safe ka, pero sa ibang motorist magiging road hazard ka naman. Being a driver on the road means being responsible for your safety as well as others. A road accident always involves two parties, and sometimes they can be inanimate objects like cliffs and posts and walls. It's also your responsibility not to involve other humans in your actions that may lead to road accidents.

^ pag ako bro depende e, kung may mga kasalubong on all corners of an intersection, i stop pero hindi completely, yun bang halos gumugulong pa while it's decided who passes and doesn't. pero gets ko point mo, stopping dead in your tracks can be dangerous.

Dito sa pilipinas minsan ang full stop deliks talaga, ma-rear end ka pa eh. It works in places like Makati or Subic, or New Manila, pero sa probinsya aksidente yan  But of course iba yung medyo gumugulong lang dun sa hindi talaga tumitigil at susugod kaagad sa intersection

My brake piston got "stuck". We were able to open it and found replace the rubber band on the caliber with a repair kit. It worked well for a few Kms. However, feels like the brake is still engaged.. what should I do?

wag magpakamekaniko at dalhin sa tunay na mekaniko/casa. mahirap makipaglaro sa brakes at baka buhay mo na ang nakataya, worse, buhay ng ibang nasa daan pag nagfail ang brakes mo.

yeah, I agree with having to bring it to a mechanic. If you happen to be one or are knowledgeable with cars (you seem to be), it's still better to have it checked by someone else, especially considering the fix worked for a while. Deliks na usapan ang brakes eh.

nag bleed ka ba ng brakes after replacing the calipers?

kung hindi ka sure, bring it to a professional mechanic, not a roadside mekaniko

yup you have to bleed the brake lines pre, para sure na walang bula/hangin sa loob...

yung paborito kong mekaniko, natatawa ako pag nagbibleed e, "bumba!!!, pirme!!!. bumba!!!, pirmi!!!) hehehe

^ pag plastic, at hindi pa gaanong dilaw may mga detailing services na naglilinis niyan. not sure how they do
it tho.

pero pag discolored na talaga. palit headlights na. yan ang shortcoming ng plastic lens e. which is why i totally
love the old school glass lenses. ang talo naman sa ganon e reflector, after many years e napupudpod din lalo
kung mainit headlight mo.

pag plastic yung headlights... TOOTHPASTE. medyo damihan mo ang pag-apply sir. medyo madiin ang punas for 5 minutes. tapos rinse with water.

hindi e-effect pag glass type kasi 'yung texture ng toothpaste eh hindi ganoon ka-abrasive.

nakalimutan ko dapat clean rug ang ipang-punas para hindi magkaroon ng hairline scratches 'yung headlights.

^ i say labas lang. never touch the insides mapa reflector or lens.  that goes for the bulb itself din!

ahh yehey thanks! kasi lagi ko nakikita yung tip na yan, tapos ang iniisip ko, tatanggalin ko ba yung cover ng headlights and shiz? di ko kasi sure, di ako masyado car guy

Yup. brought it to the mechanic. still feels like the brake is engaged. Nagbleed ko na. though medyo lumuwang ng konti.. grrrr... lesson learned: wag ilulusong sa baha ng Espanya kahit mataas at 4x4 ka pa. lolz

AHH! nagkaron na ng tubig sa loob siguro. usually pag ganyan, if you check on the caliper piston, nagkakaron ng rust which prevents the caliper from fully retracting.
make sure na may boot yung piston, kung wala maging mas prone sa ganitong problema. ang drum brake hindi ganon ka prone sa ganito kasi part talaga ng wheel cylinder
yung dust boot, unlike caliper brakes na minsan nakakaligtaan ilagay yung boot. although it should be noted na ang caliper / disc brake e pag nailusong sa baha e madali
mawala yung tubig sa rotor, unlike drums pag tinubig the water forms a sheet due to centrifugal force along the contact surface of the drum - matagal ito mawala, minsan
oras na binilang hindi pa bumabalik sa normal. 

di ako pwede lumusong sa baha over 3-4in
