....but lets not turn this into a Vinyl vs Controller thread, there's tons of those all over the net.
Lets just focus on sharing knowledge and helping others. :-D
thanks, and I can't disagree much with what you said.
seriously I'm having problems with native beatmatching. see, the real challenge in being a dj is to use and rely on your ears. beatmatching with a program is a breeze, pero now I'm trying to learn it strictly by ear.

to beatmatch...you need to know the Beat Per Minute (BPM) in order to have on what we use to call it in the old days as "Splicing"...it may have an 8 beats to 32 beat splicing depending on the style of Intro or Break...then you have to study the song or music for the preparation of next song called " Seque" or Transition...this can be with respect to its Key or just what ever the DJ feels is better for showmanship.

thanks, I'm practicing using my controller with Virtual DJ, but I try not to look at the BPM counters. I choose 2 tracks with at least 3-5 BPM difference, play it together and find the right mix using only the pitch control. really hard as of now.

I've heard and seen about their ads in another website, and I'm skeptical also. stuck with JB, paid for more pero got the item a few minutes after, with six months warranty. that's a real bang for the buck.
BTT. tried my first mixtape already, concocted 5 songs (all mainstream tracks). sounded pretty decent, tho I still find it awful :) need a lot of practice pa.

Sample! Sample! :-D
Practiced beatmatching before but found that it ate up a lot of my time. Practiced song transitions instead. I just focused all the time and effort of trying to beatmatch into finding the right effects, timing, key and song to transition smoothly.

yes i think it would be possible using the virtual dj software, also you would need 2 soundcards to control both decks. but kung gagamitin mo sya sa live performance i would recommend just buy serato

Tama si Sir mixx...use Atomix software VDJ7.1...all you need now is a multiple in/out soundcard like Encore 7.1 Channel USB Audio or any high quality soundcard that is ASIO compliant or use ASIO4all to get good latency...

medyo affordable ang traktor, halos parehas din sa system requirement sa pc.kaso wala nga lang video mix yun nakuha ko, unlike yun serato.kung medyo may budget ka, go ka sa serato.yun sa kin kasi laruan ko lang and it's the closest to playing vinyl, nung vinyl era kasi ako natuto hehe....

Nice Thread, I hope we can bring it back to life.. :)
My gear includes;
Pioneer DDJ-SR Serato DJ Shure SRH750DJ Headphones
been practicing quite a bit and here is my latest mix. Any comments, suggestions, criticism will be accepted. :)
Magandang Araw po sa lahat, pasingit lang po muna,
Nagsisimula pa lang po ako as a DJ. gusto ko po sanang malaman saan ba po ako makakakuha ng mga latest na kanta na ginagamit nyong mga songs.
meron bang binibili na mix na song or i need to make my own remix of a certain song.
im just using my iPad and loptap planning to get DJ controler.
pa hingi na lang po ng advice and suggestion sa mga master DJ dito.
salamat po and God bless to all.
kahit ako beginner pa rin Sir.. But to answer your question, I mostly get my Tracks from iTunes. meron din ako account sa Beatport pero di ko pa nasubukan bumili. parang mas secure kasi sa iTunes..?
I also listen to Music Streaming with curated playlists like Spotify. para updated lagi sa mga bagong labas na tunes. Tapos, when I hear a song that I like and think I can mix with, I look it up in iTunes.
Para naman sa mga Mix and/or Remix, try nyo rin Sir sa Soundcloud at Mixcloud. You can listen to mixes created by Pro and Amateur DJ's from there.
I hope it helps! :) sana may iba pa mag-share dito sa group.

Title: Looking for Sampler/Keys/DJ (Not a show-band. Please see details, Thanks!)
Post by: Neku420 on March 10, 2015, 07:41:44 AM
Guitar Player here!
I am looking for bandmates, pero I really don't have a band as of now (I just met a drummer, vocals and bassist and we will soon jam). I'm just looking for people who shares the same influences, mahilig tumutgtog (preferably may sariling gear/gadgets) and willing mag jam muna. If we can produce a sound that can make us all feel fulfilled then I guess we're doing the right thing.
A Mix of Heavy and Ambient sound, pero hndi Djent or super sleepy sound ang gusto ko ma-achieve.
I am what you call ambitious pero of course I am willing to take baby steps. (hndi ako ganun kagaling pero alam ko na ung hinahanp kong sound)
:-D
I have my own gear (not that much pero I can create my own sound that's for sure) and I am looking for bandmates around sampaloc manila area sana.
My Influences (A mix of different genres):
Deftones (White Pony album, one of the best) Tool (Lateralus album, one of the best) Isis (Panopticon album, one of the best) Team Sleep Mogwai The Smashing Pumpkins A Perfect Circle Nine Inch Nails Earthmover Tarentel Urbandub Sigur Ros Failure (Fantastic Planet album, one of the best) Hum Meshuggah Massive Attack (Mezzanine album, one of the best) Bjork (Some Classics like Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Black Sabbath). And many many more!!!!!
Pieces:
- For Bassists, sana may gears kayo like octave, compressor, equalizer, etc. (a perfect circle, tool, isis and deftones bass sound sana ang flexiblity and willing magtune-down to Drop C#, Standard C# and Drop B).
- For Drummers, sana may double pedal, not to create speed metal or heavy metal pero may mga beats lng tlga (in my opinion) na mas maganda sundutan ng double pedals. (like abe cunningham of deftones, aaron harris of Isis, etc)
- For Guitarists, sana may own gear din (preferably pang post-rock/psychedelic rock ang gears and specialty) and kaya gumawa ng mga leads from scratch. (kasi po hindi po ako ka-galingan na gitarista and most of my compo are rhythm na slow/post-rocky with a hint of sludge metal and willing magtune-down to Drop C#, Standard C# and Drop B).
- For Samples/Keys, alam ko mahirap maghanap ng mga katulad nyo pero I hope I can find someone here in Rakista/PhilMusic. (preferably may sariling gear din and mahilig sa post-rock/ambient).
- For vocals, hndi nman ako nangangarap ng perfect voice since I'm not planning to create songs with too much words, if you can sing cleans (unique cleans) and make growls without wearing out your vocal cords easily, your my guy.
My current gear:
Epiphone SG (nakalimutan ko na kung anung SG un basta SG, hehe). BOSS ME-70 (multi-efx) Orange Crush 20 Pix. (practice amp)
What I'm planning to add (once may budget na ako):
Equalizer Pitch Shifter (just got one recently) A more badass reverb and delay Change pickups and strings din in time. And many more plans. :-D
I also made a post prior to this one (I think?) pero it's been a while and I just want to make it more detailed. And yes, Call me crazy and demanding, but I am very interested in creating new music only! AS ALWAYS!
Just send me an email to miguel420kush@gmail.com OR text me at 0926-658-7955 (Globe)
Pakilala lng kayo! :)
I am available Saturday and Sunday afternoon most of the time.
It's not too late for us and I can't wait to make music with you guys!
That's all I can say. . . . For now. . . .
(Sorry for the long post, here's a potato, JK).

Hello! Drummer here, dipping my toes into electronic music and making grooves. Got my hands on a Maschine Mikro yesterday, and I'm not quite sure it counts as DJ-ing, but I guess it's capable of doing that as well. Hope to learn a lot from you guys! The only gear I have right now is a Maschine Mikro Mk II and a Korg Monotribe :)
