i think its good.... not better than the Mongols album but its definitely good. i think Ely is trying to be as honest as possible. its great that he is doing what he does. hinde yung pilit. fave tracks include "DIFFERENT WORLDS"
"BLOW YER HAUS DOWN" "APOY" AND "NASAAN KA".

Ok naman si ely, i like his integrity in his music. But the thing is I have the Mongols album, but it just seems that his best work was with the E-heads. I know it is unfair to compare. This is just my opinion tho.

Yah. Pupil is better than The Mongols.. ( And of course, their Engineer, Pat of Monkeyspank used to be our engineer in our upcoming 4-track EP.. hehehe.. ) Mas makikita mong bumabalik yung dating pagsulat at pag gawa ni Ely ng kanta.. at cyempre kasama ang asawa nya..

ssshhh.. Listen to their " Different Worlds"  Chorus and Mandy Moore's     " Cry" Chorus.. hehehe.. ssshhh... nagkataon lang cguro yun... hehehe..

yup, maganda sya...not exactly timeless classic material pero good pa rin...we can't compare eheads to pupil or mongols kc graduate na sya dun sa masa pop songswriting...dati in eheads, ely was trying to be mccartney/lennon e so catchy talaga...mas malalim ngayon kc he's trying to be robert smith or lou reed, both of his idols too...so as u can observe, atmospheric masyado mga current songs nya..

cguro ito naman talaga ung gusto nyang gawin kc nung sa solo album pa lang nga nya, almost ganito na rin ung nasusulat nya minus the pumpkinesque noise...

There's a review of that - not really flattering for the band at the Feb issue of NYC's poptimes Magazine.

Ely is already a living icon. Wherever and whenever he was, Pinoys will always want to know what’s happening to him and what he is up to.

I totally agree with you sir. I haven't listened to the entire album yet but i did manage to catch them on some gigs performing their new materials, i find it a bit dry and bland. Sure thing the album may sound fine enough, but I don't think its songs will connect with the majority of its listeners. I think this is where Mr. Marasigan has an advantage (pasintabi po for the comparisson).   8)

I saw Pupil last fri night at Fete dele Musique. I really should take back my previous comment. They are pretty good!... They did 5 songs, all pretty good. Nice chunky distortion and delays.
