A full maple snare worth 8K is actually cheap judging from today's standards.

question lang sir drumster... ibig bang sabihin nung cheap - poor quality or more affordable (price)? planning to buy a snare din kc, this would be a great help. maraming salamat mod! :-D

mura po ang ibig sabihin ni sir dio.. kasi ang maple na wood for a sale would go about 10k up.

Korek!  Cheap, in terms of pricing.  Maple is not a cheap wood.

Hey congrats if ever nabili mo na yung Birch Snare...

Pero if I would suggest, yung maple sana bilin mo. I also own a Sonor Force 3005 Full-Maple. One of the sweetest sounding snares I own right now. Ang dali pang i-tono. When tuned medium tight, never had a problem with overtones. And I don't use muffling or O-rings! Ang lakas pa! It cuts through the loudest music with a very distinctive sound.

One more difference between the 2005 Birch and 3005 Maple snares is that the Birch has 8 tuning lugs... the Maple has 10...

Thanks sir dindin for the info! i hope i could really have that maple 3005.. but im short sa budget.. hehe.. pag wood issue wala naman po akong bias kasi both great woods with their own characteristics.. hehe.. maple is like open and louder and birch more focused and maybe, a little lesser volume.. hehe.. sakto lang naman po yung kuha ko sa birch sonor kasi im planning to build my fusion kit.. maybe someday.. pag nakaipon na ako ulet, im gonna get that sweet maple 3005 thingy!

again, thanks sir dindin for the info!

diba ang birch mas mabigat sa maple? kaya talo ako sa buhatan ng instruments pag yung gretsch blackhawk ng school ensemble dala ko eh..  :-( hmm??

Maple and birch are light wood in general.  The metal parts of the drum - hoops, lugs, mounts, etc. - are more influential to a drum's overall weight.

kakatawag ko lang sa salonga... naginquire ako about the 3005 maple snare... sabi saken 8 lugs lang daw yung maple snare... hmmm... baka birch yung ibibigay saken sa presyong maple, di kaya?  :?
mga sir, pano ko pa malalaman na maple talaga yun?
