*sigh*

I know there's a "ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE" thread, but almost no one answers the questions there so I'll post this question here instead.

I've never owned a phaser before (except for the ones that come with multi effects) and I'm seriously considering on getting one to add some flavor during palm mutes, and possibly during solos.

Right now, it's a tossup between
MXR phase 90 (5.5K)
BOSS PH3 (4.5K)

any other suggestions?

MXR Phase 90 gets my vote. Very warm sounding.
Do the script mod to take out some distortion.
Gets you that Aint Talkin Bout Love sound.

About the script mod legato mentioned, I googled it and came up with these:

uhhh... can't understand.. electronics... heheh. better ask the experienced ones to do it for me if I do decide on getting this.

Another industry standard is the EHX small stone. Sa PJC yata meron. Known to be warmer than MXR Phase 90 (if you're into that sort of thing). David Gilmore used this. Worth considering.

i've read reviews at HC regarding the adaptor having a different tip, and volume drop issues but I guess I'll have to check this out for myself

any other suggestions? testimonials?

Yea, may volume drop nga ang Small Stone (I tried it na). Yung MXR Phase 90, on the other hand, has a boost. So, whichever works for you more.

i only have ph-2.. pero sa 6k, i'd go for second hand phase90, mga 3.5k+, and second hand ph-1r.. hehehe

ndi ba kulang ung isang knob lang sa phaser? ..pano po ma control ung speed depth tska freq?

I asked the same question above, although i have a very vague picture in my mind how the knob works.
counter clockwise for low, swirling, wooshing phase effects?
and clockwise for bright, shimmery and harsh?

that wasn't much help now, was it?

bro try mo sa jb ngayon parang nakasale yata yung mxr phase 90 for 4.9K...somebody told me na mas maganda nga yung mxr90 kaysa boss...naghahanap rin kasi ako ng phaser eh...

really? i wonder what branch? i noticed that they're not consistent when it comes to sales. I bought strings at Salonga Cubao (10% discount), but at SMNE the discount was only at 5%, or none at all.

anyway, i just called salonga and they said that they're selling it now for 5,570. (originally at 6.5K).

Maganda na yung tunog ng Phase 90 on its own so speed knob na lang talaga ang kailangan kaya isa lang ang knob. The depth of the phaser varies with the speed. Subukan nyo na lang ang find out for yourselves

i'll try to visit pjc and check out the small stone as well

I usually recommend EHX pedals EXCEPT when it comes to mid-priced phasers. I mean, I like the Small Stone but I really, really like the MXR Phase 90 better.

Also, ano ginagawa ng script switch sa EVH Phase 90?

It changes the tone of the phaser so that it'll be more reminiscent of the vintage "script logo" Phase 90

Eto lang mga choice ko for phasers e. Well, dahil na rin sa sikip ng pedalboard ko ngayon.
