how to be a guitar solo artist?
« on: September 18, 2012, 05:20:51 PM »
jimi hendrix, eric clapton, van halen

how do they make name for themselves? how did they started out? do they started out as a solo artist themselves?

But the usual thing I see is that, most of them came from a band first then, they broke up with their band to pursue a solo career.

But how about guitarist that started out as a solo? if you are the back up band members will you give in to a guitarist if he wants to go solo? How about the cut in pay and others?

Don't hire anyone else.

And for the record, Van Halen has never gone solo.

i think nobody started out as a solo guitarist. even if u knew them as solo artist, for sure he still have bands before he went solo (from their school days maybe or from etc.). they just stand out and were given the opportunity to do solo because of the extra ordinary skills that they had. then soon realized that they are better off as a solo artist. so to answer your question. practice!practice! have fun and be friendly active with other musicians. everything will just follow and that you'll never know that you've got an extra ordinary skills as a solo guitarist.
