Title: Your favorite hi-hats?
Post by: Miggleness on April 13, 2006, 05:53:17 PM: Post here your favorite hi-hats, type of music you play, where you bought them and for how much.

Favorite hats = hats you've actually used.

As for me, i've used New Beats (just for 3 minutes in a gig tho), PST5 Medium hats (current hats) and Lata Hats (care of Tunog Lata Music).

Easily, the new beats are my fav. Mahal nga lang, 15K+ sya sa RJ. Planning to get myself AAX Fusion or new beats pag gumaling na ako pagtugtog.

13" sabian aax fusion hats, pinakamatagal kong hihats until i sold them last year to buy...

13" saluda mist medium hihats...i used a 14" sabian HHX and to my suprise, they sounded exactly the same for 1/3 the price by the way :D

Post by: drumster on October 11, 2006, 02:16:44 PM: I'm loving my prized 14" K Custom Dark Hats. I have them for almost 4 years already. It's a versatile, dark-sounding pair. It works really well with my band's style of music.

Why prized? Because it has the blessings of Mssrs. Steve Smith and Simon Phillips... And soon, I'll have Kenny Aronoff sign it. Nobody can take these hats away from me hahaha! :P

I'm not really fond of bright, sharp-sounding cymbals. I prefer dark-sounding cymbals. I also like dark cymbals which can work well for contemporary, sophisticated, modern music; which is why I favor either Zildjian's K Custom line or Sabian's HHX line.

Ok lang naman tunog. 2000 pa sya inuwi sa akin ng uncle ko as a graduation gift from college. Yun na lang ang buhay. Yung crash nya warak na, and the ride, may konting chip na yung side pero ayos pa rin tunog.

buy ko sya agad at ipinares ko sa K top ko! i'm satisfied with the sound naman malutong kasi! kala ko bibigay yung K sa ilalim pero d naman. i'm using it for 4 yrs na.

im a bassist who is buying drum gear lately cause i realize slapping is a lot of fun with a good drummer playing on good equipment, hehehe....

AAX stage are crisp, loud and cuts through good

Hindi bright, hindi dark, hindi malakas, hindi baog... just right, everytime.

sobrang nagandahan din ako sa 14" K Mastersound hats. Dark character, kaso hindi nagiging muddy/boxy yung tunog... crisp pa rin.

Siguro ganun din yung 14" HHXcelerator hats, kaso mas macho (heavy bottom vs med-heavy bottom nung K). Di ko pa nasubukan personally, kaso ganda ng tunog niya sa mga soundfile/videoclip na nakita ko. If ganun nga siya kaganda, yun na siguro ultimate GAS hats ko... if ever pakawalan ko yung New Beats.

i was really amazed by the sound of those hats when i was at Mapex Drumfest last saturday. I really think those hats will loved to be miked and reacorded.

So kelan tayo JP mag tatry irecord those Stagg Cymbals? Sir Mario already gave you a go signal diba? :D

Never ko talaga na tripan yung tunog non although may body talaga sha kaya binenta ko nalang! hahaha aax stage hats are better though mas trip ko parin yung a custom mastersound. hahaha

.. and the type of music I usually play is alternative/rock and hard/rock.. (Nuno Bettencourt songs) :-)
