Pinoydrums has been around since early this decade, and it somehow has become a name that most Pinoy drummers became familiar with.  Anyway, Pinoydrums isn't limited to drumset drummers.  Wala naman discrimination among different drummers - whether he or she is a stick drummer, a hand drummer, a drumset drummer, a marching drummer, a percussionist, a kahonista...  Or else, there could have been such groups like Pinoycymbals, Pinoykahon, Pinoybongo, and so forth.

Bottomline...  We are one community.   8-)

And if we browse around Pinoydrums, whether here in Philmusic or at Yahoo Groups, there are/were various discussions about different percussion instruments.  Any good drumming and percussion-related discussion is always welcome.

And I'm sure there are many more bongoseros out there.  It just so happened that most of the topics opened are drumset-related.  Feel free also to open hand percussion-related topics.  Drumset players/Stick drummers like me could also find it useful and interesting.

And please, don't use all-caps font next time.  Pinoydrums Forum Rule.  Thank you.  8-)

naku bro. masakit nga pag nilakasan mo palo sa bongos. dapat geanle lang then listen to its sounds at dasame time. tapos every finger looks or creat a sound para kang nag ppiano, sa skin nga lang ng bongos kahit nail mo sa finger pwede maka creat ng bagong sound sa bongos. yung metal pwede mong i tap then combine it to other sounds you are creating.

Hand Percussionists are welcome here. Slap on your djembes, congas, bongos, cajons, and what have you.

Quoting from the promo blurb of the Drums and Percussions Classifieds:

"For the beatkeepers! Drums, cymbals, sticks, drumming accessories, congas, bongos, cajons, djembes, and other things you bang and hit and thump"

Merf Viray nga ba, bro?  Yup I met him on the first Pinoydrums EB, way back on February 2004.  Kumusta na siya?

And that's right.  Pinoydrums began as a humble mailing list.  Kudos to Admin Jim, the founder of Pinoydrums.

I wanna share some photos from the first Pinoydrums EB, uploaded in my blogsite --- http://anthonydio.multiply.com/photos/album/5 .

Talkin about bongos...Pareho ba ng...(di naman stickings na matatawag yun eh) ...
I mean, pareho din ba ng technique sa conga ang pag palo sa bongo?

If I would include a pair of bongos in my drumkit, is there a special stick or technique how to strike them? Di ba parang madali sya mabutas pag drumstick ang gamit?

Meron bang may alam dito ng video na may nagb-bongo sa drumset?

Thanks! :-)

Dave Weckl and Stephen Perkins are examples of drummers who have incorporated hand percussion instruments in their drum set-ups.

Steve Gadd also did that.  Check out the master's duet with master percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo ---
