di po ba libre ang gamot sa TB? alam ko kasi meron through government clinic/healthcare pero matagal ko na yun narinig, baka kasi wala na. kung meron pa paano kaya i-avail. feeling ko kasi madidiagnose na naman ako ng tb for the 5th time juicecolored eh kinginang mahal nun kahit generic at 9 months ang treatment kulay orange pa ang modta mo ubos ang pera ko nun.

Meron pa din DOTS sir. Kahit saang health center basta may nakalagay na DOTS pwede kayo dun. Pero syempre kailangan nyo din magpakita na meron talaga kayo nun kaya if meron kayong chest xray and sputum AFB stain eh pakita nyo dun, or pwede dun din ipagawa ung sputum AFB stain. As for the treatment, may mga regimens naman and 6 months ang gamutan dun (unless resistant strain ng TB ung sayo pero wag naman sana). Usual treatment would be 2 months na isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol followed by 4 months isoniazid and rifampicin. Pero might still change depende sa category nyo. PM nyo lang ako if you have any questions regrding the matter. :)

bata pa ako nun kaya bawal/imposible magskip, plus alam ko yung ermat ko for some reason gusto bumili ng gamot kaya alam ko na mabigat sa budget sa bahay. ang treatment ko nun Rifampicin tsaka Isoniazid, in suspension/liquid form nung bata tapos thank god capsules na nung matanda na ko. IIRC, 9 months solid yun each time.
still not sure if I still have it though, di ko pa napapadiagnose/nasusundo yung x-ray ko last last month kasi ubod ng busy :eek: naghahanda lang in case ma-diagnose ulit :eek:

di ba pwede yung skin test, or di madedetect dahil early stage? para syang allergy test eh, they inject something between your skin taposbalik ka after a week. pag mukhang kagat pa rin ng lamok may TB bacteria ka sa system mo.
most obvious effect physically, yung kulay orange. magkakaroon ka ng orange glow. not kidding. you'll be sweating, spitting, crying, peeing, crapping, cumming orange. Effect sya ng Rifampicin, if that's what they give you. That's why contact lens users who undergo TB treatment are told to switch to glasses temporarily. Magiging orange yung mga puting sando, brip at polo mo.
Other than that, wala namang adverse effects for me. Like a lot of medication, it can possibly kill your liver, pero ganun din naman ang Paracetamol at Ibuprofen. No mood swings for me, although matakaw ako nun. :lol:

Whats the worst sensation or illness when you have TB? I have a 7 year old son i miss kissing him on the lips 😢. Im using masks at home and contained and tagged all my cups spoons and plates. Is this going overboard?

ah, medyo mahal nga yung skin test, pero mabilis lang at kahit di ka bumalik sa doktor alam mo na kung may TB ka na.
worst sensation sakin yung dry cough. kasi sunod-sunod, hihingalin ako parang nag-sprint ka ng tuloy-tuloy, tapos kung di tumigil, the next morning dudura na ako ng sputum na may dugo kasi sugat na yung lalamunan ko. but then kahit wala akong TB may ganun ako so isa lang sa mga possible symptoms mo pero easy lagn di naman lahat pareho ang symptoms :)
medyo overboard na sir yung separate cups and plates :lol: airborne naman ang TB kaya magandang measure na yung mask :)

4-6 months dry coughs, yeah I probably have it :-( pero wala akong weight loss sana meron, overweight na ako eh :lol:

yung chronic cough with whitish sputum pwedeng dahil sa fibrosis (lung scarring) and/or sa recurrent TB . best is to consult your physician na to rule out recurrence. ang TB pa naman di lang sa lungs yan

I started on the meds this morning and bloody hell I feel like crap. I have to swallow about a dozen pills everyday supervised by a nurse. Buti na lang malapit yung clinic sa bahay. But I literally wanted to puke. Im thinking if this is how its gonna be everyday for six months then I really have to monitor sleeping patterns and caffeine intake coz im basically worried bout my liver.
Anybody avoided specific food types, drinks or cut down drastically any habits while on this aggressive anti-TB program.
On a lighter note EVERYTHING is free so far and no one has asked me to pay for meds so thank you HK public health care.

I didn't have to avoid anything liver damaging although I wasnt a coffee or alcohol drinker the last time I got treatment. Howevr I don't recall feeling like crap :-( baka sobrang sabog na ng katawan ko na parang normal lang kung anuman yung symptoms.

Parang naduduwal na ewan tapos mejo hilo ng konti. A bit of pressure sa tenga tsaka yung ihi kulay royal tru orange. Everytime may dosage stay ng 15 minutes under observation sa complications sa clinic.
La naman akong ubo puro lang sharp pains sa chest cavity pag hinga ng malalim.

Sang hospital ka nagpa diagnose? They've prescribed a drug regimen without a valid diagnosis? Bakit sila nag bigay nang anti-TB treatment kung TC pa yung status nang TB? Kung negative sa broncoscopy anong ibang exam ginawa nila para ma justify yung TB treatment???

nakakarelate ako though dun sa masakit yung sharp pains. yung sakin dahil sa dry cough na hindi ma determine kung ano ba talaga. nirurule out lang nila yung TB eh dahil may mga kulang na sintomas. eh masakit

I wasnt regularized in my new job then..
Effin miserable.
Went to sss to get support, I was made to wear a paper mask with rubber bands to talk to the officer.
So degrading..
I worked out ate a lot.
I went thru meds. A lot a lot of meds by 4s the first 2 months
By 3's the next 4-7.
I got well.
And kicked asses in the office.
Ans I still do.
Im ripped and healthy now.
But those were god forsaken times man...
Hah.. This is like theraphy. Well there goes my story on that.

Im all out on wearing masks in public. Dami talagang tao dito lalo na sa Tube tsaka kahit saan and i lived thru SARS kaya nakasanayan na namin dito sa HK. Ang ayoko lang sitahin ka ng mga pulis dito pag naka mask ka.
They stop and search you which is what i dont like.
I can imagine dapat masanay na rin tao jan sa Pinas kasi it does make sense to protect your respiratory system in mostly crowded places from pollution and other known ills airborne.

Here is mine....sang lagukan kasi ang pait nung mga maliliit.
yung Isoniazid, lasang vodka :lol: pero bata ako nun eh so sobrang kadiri talaga :|
yung Rifampicin naman, "red orange flavor" na tama nga naman, looking back, lasa ngang blood orange. pero ang blood orange medyo acquired taste, para syang orange na may halong pomelo na hindi matamis. so ipagsama mo yung flavor na yun, yung flavor ng white stuff sa pomelo, plus yung "lasang gamot" na malalasahan sa mga suspension (parang sa antibiotics). mas kadiri yung Rifampicin! :|
naging suki ako ng Choc-O dahil dyan sa mga gamot na yan, kailangan ng panulak eh :eek:

Ay basta tapusin niyo ang treatment regimen ah. Nakakatakot ung mga drug resistant TB eh. Dami kong naencounter na ganyan sa San Lazaro.

Confirmed na ako na TB. Latest xray shows positive effects ng gamot. I am also a confirmed Hepa B carrier.

TB treatment’s high success rate hailed as ‘breakthrough’
A new treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis patients, that reported a success rate of 82 percent in a study, has been hailed as a “breakthrough” at a medical summit in Britain.
The final results were unveiled at this week’s Union World Conference on Lung Health in Liverpool, north-west England, and showed patients across nine African countries responded remarkably well to the nine-month treatment.
Of the 1,006 TB sufferers who participated in the observational study of the treatment, all of whom were all resistent to TB medicine rifampicin, 734 were deemed fully cured and in a further 87 cases the treatment appeared to have worked.
Out of the remaining patients, 54 did not respond to the treatment, 49 were lost to follow-up, and 82 died.

2 months ago, I was diagnosed with this, just finishing my 2nd month of meds this week. 4 months to go.
1 month before I got diagnosed, out of the blue after drinking iced tea I coughed out blood about 4 tbsp. Went to ER, got xray, clear. I was advised to have a follow up check up with an ENT and Gastro. Suspected bleeding is either from throat or stomach since clear ang xray. I had a gastroscopy and laryngoscopy, both clear.
Then I was advised to consult a Pulmonologist because I started having persistent cough, night sweats and most of the time I was light headed. The Pulmo suspected it was just an ordinary infection, gave me Amoxiclav for a week but still I did not get better. Then he instructed me to have TB sputum test, skin test, and CT Scan. Sputum and skin came back negative, CT Scan however has an impression/interpretation of "signs of infection particularly tuberculosis" and also signs of hemorrhage. However, the Pulmo was still not sure because the other tests was negative. So he just gave me cough suppressants.
We started having doubts with the said Pulmo so I consulted another Pulmonologist. It was much better experience talking to the 2nd Pulmo, he had a look at all my labs and said that it was most probably TB, gave me a prescription for TB meds and then a lab referral for QUANTIFERON TB GOLD. Apparently this is the most modern TB test, it's a blood test with the highest accuracy AFAIK. It came back positive and from then on I'm taking the TB meds. My wife also consulted another Pulmo to check if she was infected and thank God she was not. She gave my lab results to her doctor and she also said it was in fact TB. I'm so glad I got a 2nd opinion. After I got the positive TB blood test, I still went to my original Pulmo without telling him I already consulted another one, he advised me to come back after 3 months to see what will happen (SMH).
I feel a lot better now pero inuubo pa rin ako kapag napapagod. At napakadali ko nang mapagod, pero at least hindi na kagaya 2 months ago. Salamat at medyo nababawi ko na rin ang 3kgs na binawas ko, na sobrang hirap ko na-gain last year.
Ang pinakakalaban ko ngayon is anxiety talaga and kapag inaatake ng coughing sobrang di maiwasan mag-isip. nakakastress pala to!

Hindi ko nga alam eh, iniisip ko baka nakuha ko from someone sa bus (long trip) or kung saang public place dito sa manila. Sa mga nabasa ko, through air ang transmission. Usually need na medyo matagal ang exposure (8hrs) and kapag nahawaan ka, magiging active kapag mahina immune system mo. Nung time na yun stressed ako and di ako nakakakain ng maayos eh.
There's latent and active tb. Latent yung nacocontain ng immune system at walang nararamdaman na kung ano. Sabi nga daw 30% ng population ng mundo may TB.
