★ CLUB USA ★ (american made guitars thread)
« on: June 22, 2014, 03:20:40 AM »
in my undereducated and humble opinion, american products, be it guitars or amps, are worth every penny. worth the extra charge. builds are more consistent, attention to details is superb, paint, wood, frets, playability, tone/sound, everything is top notch. really high level of build quality. for me i pickup non-american guitar and they feel cheap. of course there are some exceptions. but american guitars have definitely spoiled me.

worth it? a resounding yes IMO.

My entry-level highway 1 tele :-)

My first tele was a Fernandes The Revival tele. I was happy with it until Freedomtom identified all the differences from a Fender tele. I sold it to save for a Fender.

The brand new MIA HW1 and used MIJ reissues were similarly priced when I was scouting for a new tele. The MIJ teles in the ads were great looking, but I know that MIA teles use American alder (ash for natural) while MIJs do not. I am also aware that both will benefit from a pickup upgrade, hence, that is not a buying factor. I can change the hardware and electronics on both, but I cannot change the wood of the MIJ. I bought the HW1 instead.

The finish was dull, but I made it shiny using a polishing compound. I did not expect the 3-saddle bridge to have good intonation, but only the bass E string was slightly off at the 12th fret. Action and workmanship was good. Just the same I brought it to Micsis for a professional setup, as I do with all my new guitars. The strings stay in tune. Knobs are smooth. The maple neck is lightly flamed. The neck pickup is good, but I find the bridge pickup lacking. I might change them to original vintage.

Kinda on the fence if we should still keep this thread here. We already have a stickied thread dedicated to gear pics, most of which are US-made. But carry on for now.

ganito din naranasan ko nung naka bill ako ng american guitar. biglang nagka bagong 'benchmark' at nag iba bigla pananaw ko sa ibang insturmento. it "spoils" all the other ones because they can't come up to this standard. pagkatapos nun mapapa judge ka na sa mga guitars by a new criteria.

"SPOILS"

^ Spot on to! hahaha even though peopls say "built by mexicans" in COrona California as a joke..hahaha

Ever since I got my very first  Gibson ( a lp special) as a gift..it was my first first hand experience with a guitar of market  value...I realized the feel and appeal are worlds apart from my then indonesian squire and 90's korean fender squire.. even my wife notices the huge differences and encourage me not to collect lower end guitars anymore...

Ive leveled up in a way (though not it a FM55 and other GAS Gods here with half a million peso guitars --but just a normal, average guitar lover with more disposable income now kind of way)...when I was talking with my dad, he also noticed how Ive leveled up from fernandos, RJ's Genesis series etc..during the 90's..which he got to see as he usually brought us to JB or Perfect pitch and yamaha...and a US guitar was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay impossible to acquire for me back then...

I wish I had though..as Id love to see the aging on them if I got one back then...

Now Ive gotten a liking for the good stuff... Ive got an LP Special, An american standard Strat and a Standard Lespaul..so far so good..hoping to get a tele or a jazzmaster..kung maka chamba...

hehe these things  they hold their value, age well, and easy to sell if ever..and holds some prestige in a way and are freaking icons of rock and roll!..

so go get one if you can...with the average income getting better and better...and deals from crescendo sale..(70k for a  LP Trad! Brand Freaking new), and the countless 2nd hand used guitars flooding the for sale forums at aamzing prices....ipon ipon lang..and you can get one...

MIJS, MIK's are good (which i love)..and you can find gems from indonesians or Chinas..but iba padin..

sabi nila "once you go black you won go back"--modified siguro is "Once you go "Standard" you wont go Back"

definitely Im not going back..haha

here they are!

LP Special Faded (My gateway drug guitar and happens to be my favorite of the 3)

Am Std Strat

'08 Standard LP

abang abang ng tele, ES 335, Jazzmaster..

oooh I also have a CRATE Made in USA 60 watt amp...which I got from RJ Music during the 90's when they sold better stuff..and it still damn performs!

planning to sell them off though..and use the money to fund for a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue

This is a good sign...I try to get this feeling (which is a bit hard sometimes) ...I believe this is a sign a guitar is on its way to ultimate bonding with its user...youre more relax and confident and focused on playing now..mind is free...emotions can easily flow out...

undoubtedly, US made guitars are almost crafted to perfection.

I said almost because their budget models, though MIA were like assembled or crafted in a jiffy.

I didn't like the Highway One series and the new model that followed it.

Gibsons..after paying a thousand bucks...their guitars aren't set up. and I'm not talking about custom set up for each player, just the plain intonation factor, finish flaws and other minor issues.

Tama nga naman, gitara naman ang bass.
Originally, may amp na kasama sa title. Ni-revised nung OP at ginawang "guitars" na lang. Ayan, inalis ko na para shoot na sa topic.  :-D
