im now 33, and i still sucks in term of playing guitar, high school palang nag gigitara na ako, mabagal ang improvement so what.
i played guitar not just because iwant to be a better player, kundi dahil na sisiyahan ako, i play guitar because it relieves me from something, and because i loved music. so wala akong pake kung di ako nag iimproved or di ako magaling. basta nasasarapan ako sa ginagawa ko.

Im also around your age and I have to admit I suck too haha.  However enjoy lang ako and try to learn new stuff every once in a while.  I also learned to play the drums first pero mas nag-enjoy ako nung natuto ako mag-gitara, to the point na hininto ko na ang pagpalo matagal na pero binalik ko ang paggigitara

i suck too..haha..i started playing at 18..im what..21 now..i learned fast but stoped..why?kasi nahinto ako sa stage of learning new things..dahil busy sa work.. BUT started to gain the PASSION on playing.. alam mo yung hirap humanap ng time but still manages to grab the guitar.. im now playing drums on our local church because we are still breeding the new ones.. pero nde ntapos ang pag gigitara ko dun..nakuha ko pa bumli ng bagong gitara kahit nde ako nkakapag gitara.haha. wee.. anyway.. it's the PASSION.. God Bless you , PM and all the frustrated gitarista!

ang nakaasar lang eh yung mga bumabanat na " hindi nya kaya yan, di sya magalin tapos tatawa" di naman guitarista, kasi magaling guitarista nila, pero puro copya naman. ni hindi magawa ng sariling kanta. puro yabang lang.

I can relate to the TS. I've been playing for 12 years now, pero I feel like I've hit a wall. I haven't improved for the last 4-5years. I'm now trying to find guitar classes that would suit my level. Probably learn theory as well. Do you guys have any suggestions?

ngayun ganyan din ako, pag di ko makuha yung song na gusto ko, kahit naka guitar pro pa ako..feeling ko di ako bagay sa pag gigitara ehehe.. pero kasi puro dreamtheater gusto ko i cover kaya na fu-frustrate ako hehe.. DT kasi yung reason bakit biglang nagka ilaw sa ulo ko na gusto ko mag gitara.. first time ko nun marining yung As i am, at elibs na elibs ako sa solo..

I'm already 27 y/o, i started playing mga 13 ako naimpluwensyahan ng mga classmates ko nung HS. madami na rin ako nasalihang mga banda bandahan, yung mga nakasama ko dati ngayon gumagawa na ng sarili nilang music ako isang "wannabe at trying hard parin". Feeling ko di na ako mag-iimprove, yun nga mga scales hirap ako, at nirarayuma kamay ko kapag sinusubukan ko yung mga mabibilis na licks, awwts.

Gustong gusto ko gumawa ng sarili kong music kaso talagang skill wise sablay ako..idagdag pa jan yung mga kabanda ko na kulang sa drive. kahit pamilyado na ako ang having 2 kids i want to keep the flame alive kaso mahirap na..

Dumating na nga ako sa point na give up ko na yung passion ko.. pero di ko talaga maiwasang mainggit.
Di ko kayang pagsabayin ang pamilya + work + banda hehehe. Kahit may work na ako hirap parin pang-GAS at isa pa sa mga nakakafrustrate yun.

hirap talaga pagsabayin ang banda at pamilya. may banda pa rin ako pero yun nga wala masyadong oras. laging busy or minsan hindi pwede yung isa kaya may time na iisipin mo kung itutuloy mo pa ba. pero kagabi after putting a new set of strings it came back!. hehehe. time will tell pa rin. malay mo kung hindi ikaw yung makakagawa ng musikang gusto mo, baka anak mo. (yun iniisip ko kung sakaling magkababy na kami ni mrs). ang hirap lang talaga kapag may mga kaibigan ka na nakakagawa ng eksena sa music scene tapos ikaw wala pa. hehehe. pero payo ko tuloy tuloy lang. nasa dugo na yan eh

Yeah, you're right bro.. nakakainggit.. sana kahit yung mga anak ko na lang magtuloy.. pero sana kahit papaano may marating din ako kahit konti dito sa passion na to kahit konti lang ok na yun.

pareho tayo pare, almost same tayo ng kinalagyan ngaun, mas matanda nga lang ako sa iyo ng 3 years pero same tau 14 y/o din ako nag-start and hangang ngaun eto pa rin, mahirap talaga makahanap ng kabandmate kapag me family na, bihira din ngaun ung dayshift yung work, yung tipong pwde mu pa maka-jamming sa gabi or kapag restday, at kailangan pa patulugin muna si baby bago hawakan ang gitara, hehehe, ok lang yan time will tell...malay natin meron dito mag-organize ng jamming for daddy's tulad ntin, or baka me mag-trip bumuo ng banda at maghanap ng ka-bandmates na mga daddy na rin na may dayjob at gusto tumugtog kahit jamming lang sa gabi, huwag lang natin kalimutan, hindi natin kailangan sumikat or makilala,gusto lang natin tumugtog hehehe

hehe. frustrated as a musician? well, we cant all be stars, etch our names in the music world, or maybe earn a living through music.  we will just have to enjoy playing guitar, at least its the best job in the world.  and nothing wrong to dream and aim high too. 

frustrated as a guitarist? or maybe bored? maybe the ff. might spice up your guitar life a bit.

1. Stop your GAS(for now) but make sure your guitar is in good shape and sexy. 
2. Stop comparing yourself(if you are), we're all students(even the beastly players), this is not a race.
3. Stop/minimize listening to guitar oriented music(those seemingly selfish type where the guitar always grab the spotlight), instead listen to other records that feature other instruments(sax, piano, trumpet, etc...), hear the beauty in them and try to cop them, it doesnt need to be note for note, but cop them the way you hear them and how they should sound. 
4. take a simple song, improve it, try to add your personality to it.

5. its a big world out there, some things you'll have to put off for a while and come back later.  eat, sleep, have a good time w/ your lady, whatever...

Maybe ill try to listen dun sa mga old favorites ko, yung mga nakainspire sa akin para tumugtog

OT: speaking of keeping our guitar on shape, baka may spare parts kayo jan would you mind giving them for free hehehe (ie fret wires, old pots, pick up, etc) bubuhayain ko yung old guitar ko and ill promise no more GASing muna hehehe
