Does it look like i'm kidding? C'mon people wake up! Di ba obvious? napaka uncommon ng band name na "Chico Science" para sabihin nila na they came up with that idea. Tapos magpapakaemo sila ngayon, binaboy nila pangalan.
that kind of outlook is precisely what makes any music scene very small and close-minded.
And please, don't throw out the usual "freedom" speech. any kind of freedom must always come with RESPONSIBILITY to use, protect, value and respect that freedom. By not respecting other people's points of view and ways of life by being uncivilized in your ways, you end up destroying any claim to "freedom". Because if you set the tone that way, then don't expect people to respect you either.
Mind you, Chicosci's music is not my cup of tea, either, but I respect that they're doing their own thing. I don't make judgments on certain aspects, simply because, to be frank, life always has a way of putting you in a similar spot.
My apologies if this sounds like an attack on you; it isn't. It may be unsolicited advice, or perhaps I really do want people to know that all this negativity is what creates and sustains the crab mentality so endemic to Filipinos. If you don;t like the band, then say it in a proper, civil manner, and then leave it be - you may even make more people think about your reasons if you lay it out in a more civilized manner.
By the way, the name thing? I can believe it. For all we know, they may not have known about the possible legal concerns that may pop up if one did that. Again, always look at both sides of the coin.
Also, if we're getting picky about name origins, then definitely, Eraserheads should change their name - since it's probably taken from the name of the movie , and you know, that's copyright infringement, too.
Rolling stones, too, since they probably named themselves after a a song (I forget if it was muddy waters...)
