Acoustic guitar: Yamaha or Ibanez???

I'm confused on which to buy: Yamaha APX/CPX series nila or Ibanez AW40ece. I heard di daw maganda pu's ng Yamaha compared sa Fishman ng Ibanez. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

hi. aw40ece user here. i've tried as well the apx (don't know the series, nagamit ko lang kasi for 20mins on a gig)

i haven't examine much the apx but it sounds good unplugged/plugged. bright yung tone ng guitar. listen to MYMP, i think he's using a APX/CPX series acoustic.

pasensya na rin but up to this moment, i still haven't used my aw40ece plugged. acoustically, it has also sounds good to my ears. the typical drednaught guitar, it has a good sound projection, balanced tone and solid punch. one that like me most this guitar is the solid spruce top which i think not on the apx/cpx ones (correct me if im wrong with this ).

further, medyo pricey ang brandnew yamahas over brand new ibbys. best is for you to check them both (plugged/unplugged) and let your ears decide.

pre, go ibanez. the APX/CPX series yamahas available here are laminate tops lang eh, at least yung AW series ng ibanez eh puro solid top. regarding the pickups, i think pareho lang sila. pero i find the ibanez ones better. i've owned a yamaha FGX series acoustic/electric and an ibanez AEG series acoustic/electric. mas nagustuhan ko yung ibanez. pero check mo din yung pickups ng ibanez, yung iba ata hindi na fishman eh.

one more thing, mas mura yung ibanez, kung ang budget mo eh pang CPX ng yamaha, you can buy the high-end ibanez guitar na, and i think cheaper pa. solid top pa.

uyy... thanks kulas for that info. sayang... laminate top lang pala ang apx/cpx. in fairness, ok pa rin naman tumunog, medyo bitin lang sa bass.

+1 sa comment ni kulas better go for the AW40ece or higher ones kung kaya ng budget. iba yung tunog ng solid tops... solid.... ahehehe redundant....

laminate yung mga APX/CPX na available dito sa pinas sa ngayon hehe. particularly the CPX-5 (yun lang nakita ko sa perfect pitch megamall) and yung anything below APX-8.

yung mga solid top na APX/CPX eh malamang saksakan na ng mahal, better pa siguro mag-seagull guitars ka nalang, hehe. pero for the price, say 20-25k hi-end na ibanez AW series na yun. and to think pare-pareho lang sila gawa sa china. yung mga yamaha gawa sa taiwan, yung ibanez gawa sa china.

+1 lang po... ibanez user here....  yun nga lang, sx user ako... and sx's have smaller body, kaya pag practice kme unplugged mejo ntatabunan ako... pero basically, nag-bbloom sha pag plugged.... opinion ko lng po... and tama si kulas... i really like it's body.... ayus...

mejo OT lng... meron ba dito nung euphoria? haaayyy... not much into browsing ibanez website... nakita ko kanina..... nangangarap lang...

thanks for the correction. naalala ko na. it was an APX-9 that i used kaya maganda yung tunog. as per yamaha website, it has a solid spruce top with nato sides and back. aw40ece on the other hand has also a solid spruce top with mahogany on back and sides.

even another musician noticed its nice tone of the apx-9.

ibanez acoustic guitars are bright . maganda din yung tunog when plugged..kahit recta sa mixer. maganda pa yung feel. yamahas here are overpriced.

whichever you pick will depend on your tastes. I'd go for an Ibanez coz I got a Yamaha now (an L-series from the late 80's) that I won't let go. The Ibbys look and feel like they should cost more than they should, which is a good thing. Haven't heard the pickups, though.

Like I said, don't quote us on which guitar you should buy. A/B both guitars and see which calls out to you in your dreams.

Maraming salamat mga bossing!!!!!!

I have tried them both.... I like the Yamaha kapag unplugged. Rich warm tone ayus din kapag plugged. Spruce top and Nato (whatever kind of wood that is) back and sides. For the price of 36k (Mega sale sila April 21-30 so less 10%).

Yung Ibanez, nsa 19k lng (di pa discounted). Fishman ang PU. ok lng ang tunog kapag unplugged. Solid Spruce and mahogany back and sides. galing ako AP kanina and tested their AW and EW (EW not using Fishman). Ganda ng tunog ng AW kapag plugged.

If I will go with Ibanez, may pambili pa ako ng decent acoustic amp. What you think?

go ibanez bro! hehe. tapos kung papang-gig mo sha, it would be good to buy an acoustic direct box. para rekta ka sa house/p.a. sasaksak. mas maganda tunog ng acoustic that way.

actually, di ko mashado alam yung brands ng mga d.i. boxes for acoustics. sakin gamit ko l.r. baggs check mo sa www.lrbaggs.com. alam ko meron din yung sansamp na acoustic preamp/d.i. box eh. behringer din. check mo nalang yung mga sites nila.
