What is the bet strings to put on it? 9's or 10's?

I like 10-46 D'addario strings. The brightness compliments the guitar tone.

I generally avoid lighter gauge strings. If it's a les paul, it will have a stop tailpiece (no locking trem system here). So you might have problems with tuning consistency. With an LP, you have to check your tuning regularly.

No big deal though.

kuha kayo ng sintas ng sapatos nyo ser, tapos i-pulupot nyo sa may gawing ilalim ng knobs(mga dalawang ikot lang ng sintas) then pull it up really gently( yung sintas hihilahin nyo pataas ser) while pushing your thumb down(sa top mismo ng gitara nyo) at yun dahan dahang aangat yung knobs nyo...hope this help...peace
