define clean guitar sound?

Clean Dry, as in Guitar straight to amp lang (hindi ko madalas ginagamit)

Clean Drive, guitar boosted by an od, pero hindi driven, low gain lamang para mainit na clean sound (madalas ko gamitin) think John Mayer's room for squares strat rhythm sounds

Clean Compressor, guitar passing thru a compressor. glassy, at pantay ang volume, hindi nangingibabaw ang bass (on a strat POV to), pantay ang bass at treble sounds. malakas pero walang grit. (think John Mayer's somethings missing rhythm sound or wheel)

with the proper Vst's kaya mo rin maachieve yung actual sound without micing an amp. sa Sonic State Studio (Silent Sanctuary, Kamikazee, Gloc9, Philia, Midnight Meetings, Maja, etc.), purely VSTs nalang, no amps na talaga. so far, very convincing talga.

I record direct. Guitar straight to interface. Then I fire up an amp and cab sim.

I like "jazzy" cleans, yung dry na sinasabi ni ralph, depending on the sound I need, sometimes I don't even use an amp sim (sonic maximizer lang), and if I do, it's with the gain way down low, south of 9 o clock. mix eq to taste.

pag clean drive, I up the gain a bit, I usually set the gain such that the breakup point happens when I strum an open chord with force, with all pots open and the pup selector in the middle (for HH).

Clean drive or Clean compressor siguro bro. May balak kasi akong parang vibe/theme/concept nung balak kong EP.

Pinaka sweet spot kasi ng HH cleans for solo work yung neck pup na naka-roll off pa yung tone knob, sobrang warm. So pwede rin naman but it will be a very warm record. But still, both can work pero magkaiba lang talaga yung vibe

Sorry noob question.. Ano yung impulse? at saan nakakadownload?

yung impulse isa syang WAV file (or some other proprietary file) na kinacapture yung frequency response ng isang space, cavity, material, etc. usually a space or cavity is mic'd and a full range tone such as a gunshot or a full range sweep is fired/played in the space and the resulting sound is recorded. In the case of speakers like cab impulses, they simply send the signal through the speakers, although they can also mic the cab itself inside and out to replicate the sound of the cabinet itself.

When you load the impulse into the cab sim or an impulse deconvolver, science happens such that your new input signal (in this case the guitar signal) "replaces" the gunshot/full range sweep and thus triggers the frequency response of the space/cavity/material.

Impulses are different from EQ because it replicates the response and timbre of the space/material, instead of just adding and cutting frequencies. This is like trying to make a DI overdrive signal sound like it came out of a Twin Reverb using just the EQ - it just won't happen. You need to replicate the response of the amp and the cab through impulses or similar tech.

google mo lang yan, sobrang dami  although I use Guitar Rig 5 and Amplitube 3 for my cab and mic sim duties  :)

Paano kaya ako makakakuha ng ganitong electric guitar sound using nung LePue amp sim + cab impulses?

+1 my sentiments exactly. think Jerome Rico, really mid heavy and nasally. not a bad thing for instrumentals, not so good for guitar+vocal work. It has to be at least a P90 semi hollow.

mismo, tandaan, kaya naka ES HH si JM kasi 3 piece sila at hindi naman siya nagiistrum. licks na pasundot sundot yun. which is a strong point of that kind of guitar.

i got a semi hollow, kaso p90s single coil parin. sobrang nasal talaga pag HH. except kung magsswap ka ng pickups.

kaya naman i would think. pero matinding tiyaga ito paps dahil magkaiba talaga agn character ng P90 sa normal na pickup hahaha. maganda nga ang tunog ng p90. parang normal single coil with more oomph. hahaha try mo tele neck, or middle, tapos roll down onti ng tone knob, tapos fender or JC120 amp sim for cleans. no experience sa lepou, baka si bro boxedking may inputs :) kung sa guitar rig to, i'd use the JC Clean, tapos tube compressor, then middle pickup or neck ng tele mo. adjust to taste.
