try nyo magcover ng the specials, the aquabats and the skatalites (pang instrumental). kung trip nyo mag reggae try nyo kachafire & steel pulse
if you can't join them, beat them!

The Specials, puwede rin Gold Finger kasi punk-ska siya. Bosstones puwede rin.

start with the basics man. yung mainstream muna. tapos palalim kayo ng palalim. as you go on you learn, kumbaga yung mga pasikot-sikot ng genre na gusto nyo. peace.

hmmm... ok rin mag-cover. try the roots or rocksteady stuff. like...um, skatallites kung REALLY old school, for instance. then research on the specials, madness, the police nung late 70s and early 80's. then move to study the revivals nung late 90's like no doubt, goldfinger, 311. maganda para sa isang artist ang malaman ang beginnings ng genre na gusto niyo. also look into reggae. like the marleys (bob, ziggy), lee "scratch" perry, inner circle.

but then again, ok nga mag-cover. pero...why cover? if you want to play ska, why not just MAKE your own type of ska? assuming, of course, you have a pretty good background in ska.  peace.
