I got the multimeter out. Last time I used this was in college buti nagana pa low battery lang.

From the Fender website, texas specials have DC resistance values of:
    Neck: 6.2k ohms
    Middle: 6.5k ohms
    Bridge: 6.7k ohms

I measured:
    Neck: 6.9k ohms
    Middle: 7.0k ohms
    Bridge: 6.8k ohms

I measured it installed so it should be greater than the regular values.

The texas specials supposed to have more windings right? So it should have a greater resistance as compared to USA vintage pickups. Hmmm... now I'm thinking Texas specials nga..

It's the first time I've done this. This is fun!  :-D

Thanks sa info. Inconclusive pa din pala. Hirap naman mag ID ng pickups.

From another source:
enamel coated wire = dark purpleish, maroon color coil.
Cloth lead wires
Staggard pole pieces (D and G are raised)
DC Resistance: 6.50K - 7.10K
Texas Special Strat Middle Pickup: RW/RP yellow pos wire
DC Resistance: 6.5K
Texas Special Strat Neck Pickup: blue dot
DC Resistance: 6.2K

Mine has raised pole pieces sa D and G.
Ganun din ba sa USA Vintage?
Thanks uli.

yup. raised pole pieces sa D and G strings. only option mo na lang is to check the wood. remove the neck and look at the grain on the neck pocket. if it's alder, Texas Specials ang stock pickups. if basswood, USA Vintage yan
doh!!!

Are they both basswood? Medyo magkaiba kasi ang tingin ko. Baka color/tint lang. Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance.

This strat arrived 10 days ago. Share ko lang. I love the finish on this one.
CIJ Fender ST62-87TX ash body in Aged Blonde. It's supposed to be texas special
pickups pero pinalitan ng orig owner ng Dragonfly pickups from here: http://www.harrysjp.com/pickups.htm

62 Looks like basswood. Alder is commonly darker than that.
57 i can't tell, there seems to be some kind of residue on the pocket

It's unusual but I think a maple neck suits it better. I'm thinking of swapping my 54 or 57 neck to get the full effect sans the gold harware.

I got bored so I sent my strat to Sir Arie of Guitar Hospital for a "proper setup". (I feel college all over again)  :-D

Neck reset
Fret dress
Hardware cleaning
Bone nut slotted properly to accommodate 10-46 gauge
Fret board refinished to eliminate raised tongue [gotta love rosewood slab for this]

Finally had the time last night to install new strings, fix the bridge and set up the actions after fiddling with the tremolo and springs for days only to be irritated... [tried the Carl Verheyen method, I'm not Carl Verheyen]

PS: anybody selling tremolo springs? (the one that claws to the.. err.. trem claws)?
I want to install 5 preferably new springs as oppose to 3, just because.  :-P
