The CUB Club! (Laney Cub12/Cub10/Cub8 thread)

Magandang gabi Cub users,

1 week ko ring di nagamit yung Cub10 ko at ngayon lang unang salpak e OK naman siya, pero after 5 mins, bigla nawala na tunog. Nagpalit ako cables, wala pa rin. Checked ko sa likod, isang power tubes wala ilaw. Pinagpalit ko yung tubes ng pwesto at yung same pa rin. Yung tubes di na umiilaw. Cub10 po pala yung amp.

Ang aking mga katanungan:

Pag nasira ba yung isang tube kailangan palitan din yung isa?
Pwede ko ba palitan ng ibang power tube yung nasira? (6V6GT yung sira, pwede ba 6L6GC yung ipalit? yung lang kasi available sa epektos)
Wala na ba gagawing setup pagkatapos palitan ng tube? Plug ang Play rin lang ba?
Ano po yung tube BIAS?
May mairerecomend po ba kayo ng ibang seller ng tubes bukod sa epektos.com? Within Metro manila lang po sana.

Pasensiya po, napakaraming tanong, first time ko po kasi magkaron ng di tubo.

Generally, dapat palitan pareh.o pero I've replaced single power tubes in the past.

Tried replacing 6v6s with 6L6 in a Cub and you may be able to pull it off if you ca and want to modify the bias circuitry.

Not sure what the question is, but the internal pot in the Cub 10 doesn't go all the way to bias a 6L6 as warm as it should.

I recently purchased a cub12r at binitbit ko papunta dito sa Qatar. Question now is, anong gamit nyong drive pedal to push this amp for bluesy tones?

Any amp setting suggestions for use with a strat too? I'm a drummer by the way, bawal mag ingay dito kaya out of the question kumuha ng acoustic kit, so napunta sa guitar yung GAS money lol

Very pedal friendly and Cub12R. You should do well with any drive na magustuhan mo. Though personally, I use my Cub12R with a Fulltone OCD and/or a Paul C Tim for bluesy tones depende na lang kung ano kailangan ko.

May mooer hustle drive ako and cruncher. I understand na OCD clone yung hustle drive, pero even at full tone ng pedal parang ang dark ng dating nya fo me.

Also normal bang malakas yung hum/buzz ng amp kapag past 6 na yung gain and nasa around 4 to 5 ang volume? First time ko kasi gumamit ng tube so noob tlga lol

Sir g0d5_g1ft, how did you carry it to Qatar? Did you check it in or handcarry lang? Quite interested din ako sa CUB12R and was wondering if I'll buy sa Pinas then carry it to Japan. Also, is it bedroom-friendly in terms of volume level? IIRC, may 1 watt option siya pero I'm not sure how soft or loud it is.

cub 12 is a lower watt jcm800. I know that.

pero lam nyo ung sa mario 1. pag malaki si mario tas nadikitan ng pagong... = cub cub cub.

My Cub 12r IMHO is a great amp for bedroom/jamming. But it just wont cut thru in a live setting unless you mic it up. Wont sell it coz it a gift from my wife, I'd rather set it in the house for practice and buy a big Fender amp for outdoor use.

Also, it depends on your genre din, ok na ok siya for blues. Mejo bitin pag metal chugs and super cleans.

correct. depends on the drummer. I used to dime my cub 10 and 12s. perefect value for money.

any tube amp dimed will have something to go for it.

any solid state amp dimed will show people the door. atleast those who know what sounds best.

cub12r is the best value for money amp. ratio ha. dont get confused.
