its true mali po ang reasoning ko for the  P.A. system.. but still if you just get  a Word P.A. hindi rin sya pweding sabihin agad ng (Public Address)but still, sorry for that.

gusto mo lang mag promote tinitira mo pa ako. i'm just giving him an option lang naman. nasakanya naman yun kung ano ang pag kakaintindi nya.. bakit magiging dj kaba without a sounds? maybe without lights kaya nga hindi ko na sinama ang mga lights eh, sabi ko ordinary amp and speaker will do.. tsk tsk tsk..pero bandang huli a dj will need some lights parin..

edi dapat sinabi nalang nya sa thread na he only needs a mixing tracks equipment, not to become a dj..

i'm a dj by my self and hindi ako pwede maging dj without a mobile specifications. like sound and gears.. kasama na ang lights.. if your just looking for a mixing gear.. hindi mo na kailangan sabihin na gusto mo maging dj, if you dont need a sound system or lights.. kasi pwde kanaman mag mix lang kahit hindi ka dj. sa tagal kung naging dj.. ang alam kung ibig sabihin ng dj. DJ is a disk jockey. and a disk jokey,. plays a song to people..  and perform live with your sound systems and lights

a dj needs a sound to mix.. not just a turntables and mixer.. pero ok lang.. kung hindi man ako nakatulong atlist nag try.. sige good luck for your negotiations.

i guess your definition of a DJ differs from mine because where I cut my teeth doing DJ gigs in the rave scenes of ny, detroit, philly and chicago, DJs don't actually handle any lights. in fact, mobile DJs don't exist here and those guys who do mobile stuff usually do only weddings, bar mitzvahs and school parties; the scene is completely different, calls for different type of music and equipment. sure, during my early days i lugged around my PA, mixer and tables but that changed when more and more gigs I went to specifically had things for the DJ and all we had to bring were CDs and records to play. kit is right as well, a PA can be anything that lets people hear what you are playing so, in essence, it can be anything from a basic PA to a full blown auditorium installation setup! eitherway, the threadstarter can invest in a small cheap PA or make their own just to get things starter. the main idea is to have some sort of way to mix songs whether he uses vinyl, a laptop based system or even CDs.

:-) mga sir/mam, thanks for understading and support ninyo..salamat po ng marami at may katulad nyo po dito sa philmusic.., hindi naman po kasi message ang kukunin mo if someone replied to you a bad or correct language.. the "Idea" is more important..

clear naman po na wala ako intensyon na gulohin ang thread, i just want him some options for becoming a dj in my own way. sa message nung dalawang user saakin. para bang sila lang ang may karapatang mag bigay ng upinyon.. kanya kanya lang naman yan.. idea is more important than the message.. its true kasi kung iba ang pag kakaintindi mo.. ibig lang sabihin eh. batang isip kapa..

lalo na yung mahilig mang puna ng error imbis na i-correct mo para sa thread starter. at sinabi pa na off topic na daw ang sinasabi ko. lahat po ng sinabi ko sa thread. is all what a dj wants.. hindi naman siguro tatagal eh palaging turntables lang ang meron sya diba.. kaya nga naka sabi rin sa topic nya is "what equipment to buy" para malinaw po dun sa dalawang users.

for the P.A. nag sorry na po ako dyan.. kasi nga mali talaga yung nasabi ko na professional address. professional audio kasi ang nasa isip ko kaya yun ang nailagay ko.. hehe..  :-D, i have my pride kasi dun sa isa na pinipilit na mali ako kahit inamin ko na.. again sorry and god bless as all.. thanks ulit sa inyo, good day and good music everyday,,

I ask because i've never owned actual decks (been prowling the classifieds for two years pero di pa ako nakatsamba ng good deal on 1200s), but I do dj-style gigs off ableton live and an analog mixer, a bunch of controllers and outboard hardware effectors. I'd really like to get into traditional dj'ing tho. While I use ableton, I totally respect the craft. :-)

On a related note, how do local dj's feel about dj'ing entirely off ableton (like I do) or traktor? I know there's been a lot of heated resistance to going purely digital- a lot of angry things have been said (think cries of "judas" when dylan went electric, it feels like that). I know dj = "disc jockey", but as long as you do a good mix and put on a fun show, shouldn't that settle the debate on the merits of digital mixing?

The #1 argument against ableton seems to go like this: "ableton effectively beatmatches for you, and so it's cheating, and so it's not real dj'ing." IMHO tho, and I recognize that I've never dj'ed off traditional decks or cd players, beatmatching is only one aspect of dj'ing, and ableton allows other creative aspects of the craft to be explored. What do you think?

A lot of top flight dj's have also began using ableton (or traktor) in sets, some of them exclusively. See: deadmau5, max graham, richie hawtin, sasha, john digweed, gui boratto, bassnectar, dj krush, coldcut, daft punk, diplo, james zabiela, matthew dear, pete tong, armin van buuren, monolake, and even carl crag (once a staunch anti-ableton figure). For the dj's out there, are these guys dj'ing when using ableton or not?

I'd just like to know where people like me stand in the local scene. Of course, there are a lot of great local artists (some of those in EM come to mind) who do use ableton.

Forgot to say also, warping in ableton is pretty analogous to beatmatching, the primary difference (apart from the whole tactile aspect of doing it on actual decks) being you only have to do it correctly once for a track.

i know alot of traditional local DJs who is still into vinyls and cds. Some of them already has Serato Scratch Live, Stanton Final Scratch or M-Audio Connectiv. Some of them sabi naman eh kung mag uupgrade sila they will be using the Serato and the likes. I myself have never tried ableton but i heard its really powerful. The first software i tried for DJing is the PCDJ Red. Im also GASSING for a SSL or the TTM57SL but my budget dont allow me... ill be settling for the Connectiv.

Re: Beat matching... YEAH its really easy to beat match using a software but the challenge on beat matching using a turntable is un-matchable experience. Being able to play and manipulate beats using analog is the experience you'll never get using a software.

Anyway... theres an MK Battalion tomorrow at 70's Bistro if you want to see hows the scene fot TURNTABLEIST here in Manila.

wow. ako po gusto ko parin ng "Vinyl turntables" kasi mas ok sya mag mix.. even though my virtual dj nako na program. mas ok parin talaga mag scratch and mix sa vinyl. feel mo talaga na dj ka.. at sa 12" vinyl. lahat ng scratch technique magagawa mo.. magkaka serato + usb turntables nako sa december. padala ng brother ko. pero hindi ko alam yung mga model kaya i have no idea kung ano ang papadala nya sakin. firt "BCD2000 or 3000" sana ang papadala nya pero i ask him na Serato + turntable nalang. and he agree, wow i can't wait na mag december na..

for me "vinyl turntables parin ang the best for a dj"

DJing has changed dramatically. How is Computer DJing in the Philippines?

Vestax introduced Computer Interface to DJ market last April.

http://ci.vestax.com/en/

Do you think there is a possibility that Philippine DJs will be interested in Vestax Computer Interface products?

Please let me know your thoughts.

there is no brand line of serato tables, however, there ARE serato compliant products such as the Rane mixer, the SSL interface and the encoded vinyl themselves which can be replaced when you wear em out. maybe that was what you were talking about? afaik, only the encoded records exist to bridge the gap between vinyl and the computer domain. vestax and numark ahve come out with better CD decks but that is pretty much it and there was no talk of anything beyond that at last year's WMC convention which I attended.

ang example po nito is, kunwari may "Technics mk2" tapos iba yung name ng neddle  nya. pero ang tawag parin nila in the end is  a "Technics mk2"

hehehe can't wait to have my "Virtual dj turntables" or the "serato live scratch vynil  with turntables" package..
