add ko lang: if that holographic sticker helps you sleep better at night, by all means, don't let anyone stop you and get the one at audiophile. man, i'm all for it.

Sticker na pala basehan kung legit o hindi ang isang item at hindi na ang performance ng product. *sigh*

Even if it's got the holographic stickers or the seems-right packaging or the right performance, if it's not coming from the manufacturer it says on its brand -- it's a fake. Best thing to do is buy from authorized distributors/resellers. Then hope somebody from our new government will review our existing policies on tax/tariff for imports so that prices will go down.

For now, I'd rather stick to my Behringers and Wharfedales than patronize the fake cheapos (they work pretty well, by the way) that will eventually bring down the brands we so love.

Disclaimer: Unless Behringer and maybe Wharfedale as well are found guilty in court for imitating other brands, I consider them legit. :)

The Holographic sticker is placed there to give a distinguishing mark that the piece is basically genuine.  Now, since a handful of members here claim that their Shure mics bought locally from a non-Audiophile source and without a Holographic sticker are also genuine (and cheaper), then well and good.  If they are "not fakes", how can they come up with such cheaper prices?  Were they SMUGGLED in or yet do they pay the right TAXES . . . ??? :-o   :-o These are just normal questions that we buyers ask whenever we encounter such "too good to be true" deals right?

add ko lang po mga sir naka encounter na din ako ng fake na PG58 dala ko yung orig compare ko side by side.

1. yung pin # 1,2,3 sa ilalim at metal na maliit same din sa orig.
2. switch same din.
3. yung capsule same din.
4. windscreen same din.

difference sa orig
1. yung weight mas mabigat yung orig
2. yung logo madyo maputla pagka puti orig mas maputi
4. medyo iba taba ng font logo ng shure fake.

medyo mahirap mahalata pag wala ka comparison side by side ng same model.

3. yung windscreen pag kinalas mo sa fake medyo maganit kalasin, orig smooth
4. yung pouch iba din tahi lang yung tatak na shure sa orig naka lubog or ukit.

Hi,

Nakabili po ko ng pg58 sa audyssey sm fairview i'm confused if it is orig or not 100% no idea at all.
Got it at the price of Php1,970, eto po yung mga na observe ko yung mic clip nya ay walang copper sa thread which is all plastic, and yung windshield pag inikot smooth naman pero hindi ko makita yung sa ilalim ng mga wires matigas po kase at hindi matangal.
What are your thoughts? Do i get the real one?

Maraming salamat po.

Hi,

Odyssey is not known to sell original Shure mics, but you spelled it audyssey. Is there a different branch over at fairview?

Jun? care to comment?

Sorry i spell odyssey wrong.
Here is the link of authorized dealers of shure mic in PH.
http://www.shurepa.com.ph/index.php/store/liststoresin/Quezon%20City

Odyssey is mentioned in the above link but i'm still in doubt of my PG58, i'm totally ignorant of this stuff.
Also the package includes a cable but low quality which i read somewhere that genuine shure mic does not include cable in their package.

I'm not too sure about the PG58 but my SM58 has a heft to it. Shure weighs down the handle with metal weights embedded in some kind of resin in my SM. The wires connecting the mic body to the capsule electronics are yellow and green; if you have 3 wires, then the mic is suspect. Also, the SM mic body is milled from a solid piece of aluminum. Most fakes use this sheet metal bodies.

The top of this thread lists the differences. Have a read and see if spot any with your PG.

Just look for the holographic sticker even on the lower Shure series like the PG, C series and I think they even have the new SVX series. Without the sticker, it's probably just a replica.  :-) :-)

Best pic I could find of an original PG58 capsule: http://www.nowsound.co.nz/index.php/page/nsproduct/ps_type//ps_stockcode/RPM150/pi_brandid//pi_groupid//pi_categoryid/185

note the top end of the capsule (right hand side of the pic) - the thing that looks like a shiny black button has 'SHURE' embossed on it. can't tell from your pics but the embossed logo looks different.

Sa ngayon bro I assume audiophile na naglalagay ng holographic sticker sa shure mics na nididistribute nila. So I assume din na may mga genuine Shure mics din na walang holographic sticker kasi sa labas ng bansa binili at hindi sa Audiophile

could be. got my SM58 from MF and verified MIM plus all the usual checks... no sticker.
