both are ok pero meron year na olats ang hardware ng gretsch as in naputok or crack ang lugs,so ingat lang
sa stage custom, oks lahat just dont get na noveau series, ung plastic lugs. hard to look for a spare

Kung trad sizes hanap mo, here's a great deal on a yamaha beech kit w/ hardware and starter cymbals:

Yamaha Stage Custom. The problem is that the price in Yamaha / Perfect Pitch is criminal.

I played a lot of gretsch kits already, usually catalina series, sizes at colors lang naiiba. Mga 10 different kits siguro ng gretsch (catalina maples, birch, club, kahit blackhawk nighthawk) and so far they're all good, madaling itono lahat, very versatile. Well except nga sa lugs especially snares, hindi mo yata sila pwede i tight tune at malambot. (experience ko ito)

Also fan ako ng Yamaha kits. Tight ang tunog kahit entry level na kit eh hindi ka bibiguin sa hinahanap mong sound. I played a Yamaha Stage Custom (90's series) sa dating church ko for 3 years yata. Ingat lang sa lugs. And yung mga BALLS.  :-D

Therefore, ikaw parin ang makakapagdesisyon niyan. The two brands you've posted kasi are very competitive. Nakaka-torn pumili
