Configuration/gaming help
« on: April 17, 2007, 03:18:12 AM »
Hi,

Need help in my pc. Problem is running C&C Generals zero hour and final stand. Here's what happened: Originally had 40gb ata as root for my pc and ext 80gb. considering these specs as well. 1gb ddr400(2x512mb), MSI PE NEO2 mboard. Intel P2.4c (configured for hyperthreading, no overclocking), TT fan(proper working condition). liteon dvd reader/cd writer, Leadtek fx5600 256x128 vid card. Was working finr when i had these specs. 450w psu. complete 4 generic  chassis fans. windows xp sp2. I can play up to five players on one large map with little or no problems. i can even play LOTR(both stragety games) with my old specs.

Now, i changed to the following(hoping it would run better: Root: 80bgb seagate sata. Slaved: 250gb Seagate sata. External 80gb. same other hardware as above. and software. installed everything properly. then uninstalled final stand. eventually uninstalled the whole game and reinstalled it again up to zero hour. upgraded latest vid card driver from nvidia as of last week. still had problems with it. rolled back driver, now its working. but i can only play 1 on 1 and sometimes its still slowing down. I even disconnected the external drive before starting up. and closed all possible background tasks to leave explorer and tskmgr running.

problems are: crashing, freezing, image corruption. had to restart most of the time. most problems in map: iron hand(?) is the the motherboard battery? more ram? bad HDD? video card?

need all the help i can get. thanks!
note: dvd packet is an all in one bought form greenhills.

I highly suspect the video driver. Check the website of the game developers for compatibility issues. Nangyayari sa akin dati yan, nung may PC pa ako.

hmm... had the same mb as yours before, may prob din ako sa games nuon, nagpalit ako ng board, ok na. magkaiba lang ata sa tin video card and processor speed, i'm using an ati radeon 9200 256mb and 3.0ghz p4.

Well, the only thing you added were SATA HDD'S.

-its possible but am not sure... it may be requiring more power, thus, u can try a better/powerful power supply.

-you can also check if you SATA cables aren't loose, also check if there are known issues with your mobo using SATA.. you can download patches or update BIOS of your mobo if possible.

-Reinstalling the game again or finding a fully compatible driver for your video card also may help.
