Re: LCR. Maganda rin maghard pan, pero siyempre, as usual kadalasan mas maganda pag not totally by the rules hehe.

unless the electric guitar is equipped with a piezo pickup, i would advise against this dahil nagiintroduce ng noise ang mga acoustic sim dahil sa increase in treble. pag nagnoise gate ka naman mawawalan ka ng dynamics. so... boom. painstall ka nalang ng elliot lemi haahha

also, if anyone knows how to do that delay on the other side to make a wide soundstage trick, please teach me! I tried it once, puro mud lang ang nangyayari  :-( I'd like to use it on rhythm acoustic guitars, which is one of the most common applications of the technique.  :)

Try mo 'to bro. Very useful if your panning doesn't help create a stereo effect.

http://www.vescofx.com/vfxFreeHaas

http://wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Project_Settings#Pan_settings

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb11/articles/qanda-0211-5.htm

"But what about mixing in mono? Well, it's generally much harder than mixing in stereo, but you'll get much better results for your effort. The fact is that when you mix in mono you can really only separate different instruments by using differences in their relative levels and spectral content. So achieving the right balance and applying the right EQ to separate sources, becomes a lot more critical: that's why it feels harder to do. But when it's right, it is very obviously right. "

Wise use of reverb at delay din, masters dito yung mga engineers nung 60s at 70s. pinakamahirap siguro i-mix yung acoustic band with vocals. lahat kasi ng sweet spot nasa mids. kahit mga acoustic tracks ko, yung MONO button sa master fader nagiging TONESUCK button!  or parang dinaan sa phaser at TS808 yung buong track

Nice! At least may knowledge na ako ngayon about diyan thanks to the internet, pero hindi pa "working knowledge" haha.

Flipping the polarity also kinda helps, sometimes

I suggest kumuha ka ng USB audio interface like the M-Audio M-Track, instead of a USB mixer. AFAIK yung Behringer na mixers isang stereo track lang ang maooutput nya, compared to two individual tracks when using a dedicated audio interface. And personally I don't like the sound of those affordable Behringer mixers, hindi klaro. Mas mahal ang interface by a few thousand, pero super mas worth it  :)

Thank you sir sa info, nag search ako about M-aduio track. The best nga ito. But i have i tight budget, I'm a family man na kasi, kumgaba eh siningit ko lang ito dahil gusto ko matutunan ang basic recording. Anyway sir thank so much sa pagsagot. :)

kung sa mixer ang bagsak mo, do yourself a favor and record only two tracks at once, and pan them hard left and hard right. so kunwari, guitar and vocals, yung vocals naka pan left tapos yung guitar naka pan right. that way pwede mo ma-split into two mono tracks, then mix accordingly. good luck!  :)

Good day! I'm new to all these home recording stuff. I just wanna ask something about direct recording.

Any way I can make my guitar sound, uh, not bad? I know it's still better to record an amp through a mic but for now hindi pa po kaya.

I have here an m-audio m-track as my interface. Ano pong recommend nyo na gamitin kong cab simulator or would you mind sharing eq settings. :s Also do I need a DI box or I'm just completely stupid in what I'm doing

So ayun, hope someone will respond.

If you're recording your pedalboard's signal straight to the DAW with no sign of an amp and cab sim (say from a Sansamp or a Zoom G3), then it will definitely  sound really bad  (especially when distortion comes into play).

Amplitube for Fender amps, I prefer Guitar Rig for Marshall amps. Both have cab sims with mic and room parameters.

You don't really need a DI box. A DI box will help, if you were plugging into a top notch interface with a nice preamp. But in this case, there won't be much difference. Just plug your guitar into the guitar input, flip the switch to "guitar" and fire away  :)

As for EQ, it really depends on the kind of sound you want with your guitar and how you want to make it sit in the mix. But generally, if you find it muddy, slap a parametric EQ (yung may graph) on, select a narrow Q (how many frequencies are affected when you boost or cut), then boost it to hell. play with the frequency and the Q until you find one that makes it sound really muddy, then cut that frequency. Not completely, maybe 1-2 dB if it's real bad.

Or idaan mo sa Sonic Maximizer na plugin.

I have a question: can I run two (of the same) audio interfaces to effectively add inputs? I have an M-Audio M-Track with two inputs, I was wondering if I can get another one and double my inputs? Would there be a problem with mapping or latency or would it just not work? What if they were different interfaces, say my M-Audio and a Saffire one? I'm running on OS X Mavericks, any help will be appreciated!  :)
(reason for asking: too lazy to buy a new interface then sell previous one)

thanks bro! I'll check those videos.

Nasa equipment ba? Ang equipment ko lang ngayon is a behringer xenyx q802 usb mixer and samson c01 condenser microphone. :)

both equipment and technique comes to play. with your current setup, you'll be able to achieve decent sounding recordings. post production techniques and mixing and mastering techniques are required to nail that radio quality recording. you can look for tutorials about mixing and mastering in youtube.

trust me on this tho, its not an overnight thing. kaya merong mga studio na sikat na sikat kasi alam na talaga nila ginagawa nila. and it usually takes years and years of practice to nail it.

check my soundcloud for the recent recording of Gravitym and No Name. we both have roughly the same equipment. after 4 years of recording, thats the best I could do with what I have.

it might be worth to note that i dont mix with speakers because i dont have desktop monitors. i only use a sennheiser pair and then listen to it through different sources (play on apple earphones, play on bluetooth speakers, play on home theater system.)

AFAIK, best to mix on desktop monitors.

to add to this, minsan kahit gaano ka-same ang setup at settings mo, minsan jebs pa rin ang lalabas, minsan ginto. I only ever had one good acoustic guitar cut, yung cover ko ng Gravity sa soundcloud ko rin matatagpuan, but using the same setup, I never achieved the same result. Fast forward to today, I did a haphazard setup with my new condenser (AT2020, not much) and my new PG-20 guitar as test tracks, and the result was really decent.

Reverb is really hard to master. Wala pa dyan yung doubling the acoustic way
