Yamaha THR 10
« on: November 08, 2011, 09:40:28 PM »
Any thoughts on this one?

http://www.andertons.co.uk/combo-amps/pid22166/cid691/yamaha-thr10-guitar-amp.asp

"Conventional amps work great on stage. But what about everywhere else you play? Most amps are just small versions of stage amps - but how you play at home isn't just a small version of how you play on stage, so why would an amp based on that really give you what you need?

THR is the first amp truly designed to fit how you play off-stage. Everything you need is here: tones that push amp modelling to a new level, recreating the exact response and experience of playing a tube amp thanks to Yamaha's exclusive Virtual Circuitry Modelling (VCM) technology; ultra-realistic reverbs and effects to complement your playing and push you farther; and true hi-fi quality stereo audio playback that no guitar amp can get close to - all wrapped up in a package designed to mirror how you really play off-stage.

You have your big amp that sounds great cranked up to 10. Maybe you have your practical, smaller amp for rehearsals and smaller shows. Now you have your perfect third amp. The amp for everything else, THR. Prepare to spend a lot more time playing guitar..."

I initially choose the thr10c for boutique amps.....but I went home with the thr10x for high gain  why ? I can also go for a clean tone with slight overdrive on 10x

Brilliant! :-)

This sets the bar higher for a compact 'rig' & not only for home/portable use. Pero, medyo bitin pa rin siya para sa akin. If only this thing had a line-out or an XLR socket for venue D.I.'s & recordings, not to mention an input for remote tap tempo controllers (e.g. Boss FS-5U). Then, i wouldn't mind immediately getting one for myself right after my next 'Sold Item' in the classifieds. For now, I can still do away with my Morley JD-10. Which is not only designed to be plugged to line-in's & venue D.I.'s, but also can be plugged directly to the microphone input of any home-audio system. Surprisingly works pretty much the same as the above featured device along with hooking up your earphones & audio playback from PC or 'iPod'.

hmmm...interesting...

para di na ako batuhin ng kapitbahay. ayaw ko kasi nagppractice ng naka headphones. di talaga ok tunog. this is a nice alternative. kinda pricey though. 75w line6 amp na katapat ng 300USD asking price nito.

Depends on your interface, to my experience. If you're plugging regular earphones on your guitar amp it may not work. You may need pro-audio grade ones. But, for my 'home set-up', ok na regular earphones for PC and 'iPod'. In fact, i'm only using the one with built-in mic, that's commonly used on call centers, by Artec. Sure, there's compression tied-up with it. But, there's not much to miss apart from using a guitar amp. :-)

Hi, just reviving this thread, and considering buying one soon.

Any modded footswitches for THR aside from this :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP3Ug3_hIrI

Or may mga guitar modders tau sa Pinas na pedeng gumawa? :)

Thanks jeba and ios!

@ ios: musta THR nyo sir?

here is the tutorial
