Chaining Multi with your Analog Setup
« on: October 19, 2014, 10:22:04 PM »
Is it alright? Tipong pang reverb at delay mo lang yung multi effects? And for modulation.

I'm planning kasi sa ganitong setup  :cute:

Amp <- EQ <- Multi (Delay, Reverb) <- Digitech Badmonkey <- Boss MT-2 <- Wah <- Guitar

Nasubukan niyo na ba? I need your opinion. Thanks in advance!  :-D
It's not about the skill. It's about the great tone we produce.

Tried (almost)  the same set up lately. Medium to loud studio volume level.

Amp fx return<-sonic stomp<-zoom multi (delay, reverb, compressor)<-bad monkey<-shredhead<-Guitar

Although I have no idea kung ano ang epekto ng wah nang may naka-chain na multi...

I was playing with another guitarist, also with a hybrid set up. I had to turn up the mix level on the delay and reverb effects. Napansin ko na during louder volumes, mas madaling nalulunod yung repeats and shimmer ng multi na gamit ko compared sa dati kong ginagamit na analog delay pedal. Mas versatile lang ngayon sa ganitong hybrid set up dahil sa saved patches that you can easily scroll through for every other song/tune. (not to mention the tap tempo option included in the multi)

I cannot confirm if you'll have the same results as i had. It may also depend on the multi unit you are planning to use.

Hope this helps.

the cheap PLX-8 looper (the big block with switches above the pedal board) is what I use to connect/disconnect pedals in the effects chain. you can also have multiple settings stored in different banks.

i only have 1 bank setting (4 patches, the tuner and wah is always in the chain)

clean - tuner -> wah -> plx8 in -> compressor -> mod force (chorus) -> multistomp (reverb) -> digital delay -> plx8 out
overdrive - tuner -> wah -> plx8 in -> green mile od -> plx8 out
crunch - tuner -> wah -> plx8 in -> noise suppressor in -> keeley ds-1 or tonebone hot british -> noise suppressor out -> plx8 out
lead - tuner -> wah -> plx8 in -> noise suppressor in ->  gray od -> keeley ds-1 or tonebone hot british -> noise suppressor out -> digital delay -> plx8 out

all the effects on the board are always ON (except for the ds1 and tonebone, I only use one depending on the song or group of people I jam with). it's complicated to setup at first pero effective  :-D

So parang naka multi ka din bro? May tanong lang ako kunwari yung clean patch naka on, pwede mo ba I-on yung Green mile? or Tonebone? Thank you!

way back 2004 up to 2006, my setup included a zoom multi-effects along with some analog pedals

guitar > boss cs-1 > raon wah > boss ds1 > nobels od > zoom607 (yes, yung pang bass) > digitech bad monkey od > amp

the idea was to use the zoom607 as a stand alone pedal for delay and chorus.
I also experimented with the zoom's amp and cab sims, noise reduction..and even its eq settings.
basically just trying to get a good sound out of any venue amp that I plug into.

I guess ok naman sya. I survived gigs using what I had and making them work. maybe not the best "tone" I've ever had...but it worked.

what made me remove the zoom out of my chain eventually was that I liked the ease of control of having knobs on a pedal instead of pressing buttons to change parameters.
plus....it was not mine. it belonged to my bassist.

Yes para karing naka multi effects pero analog (or halo with digital).

Lahat ng effects naka engage or ON.

@ randy

ayos yan ah, it wouldn't matter how may pedals i chain into the looper?

and that mod force!!! by itself wala bang suck yung mod force? if i understand it correctly, it's a digital effect?

@ ts

bro i'm currently using a toneworks at the end of my signal chain to give me reverb, delay and other modulations...

wah > od > dirt 1 > dirt 2 > signal booster > eq (which i use more as a cut off and mid booster) > ax1500g

there is some tonesuck i believe, but it occurs much more apparently with some effects like if i use compressors, the expression pedal based effects and amp sims... so far with reverb and delay, i don't hear noticeable differences.

kung creative ka technicaly walang limit. you can have 8 separate pedal boards and switch between each using the looper.
ang issue ko lang with the looper is yung initial setup (building patch cables and power supply lines) pero after nun ok na.

the mod force is true bypass (daw sabi sa manual). it is a digital effect along with the zoom multistomp and digital delay on my board.

Nice looper! Was this purchased from lazer? How much?

Sa experience ko hindi naman.I'm using a zoom g3x sa effects loop of my ht 20 then 3 dirt pedals in front of the p.Sounds nice pa rin naman.  :-)

ito sample ng mix of analog and digital.

https://soundcloud.com/angelo-gimenez-1/iron-man-black-sabbath-cover

I used my lt-dist pedal and vintage od with a zoom g3x.

Hindi ka naman makukulong if you do that, so OK lang.

Kidding aside, it shouldn't be an issue. If anything, even a full analog pedalboard gets digitized at some point during shows where they mic/DI the amps: the reverbs, comps, and other effects on the FOH booth are in most cases digital. Stop being prissy and just play. :)

Nahihirapan kasi ako kapag mag o-on ako ng dirt, gusto ko off muna yung comp so dalawa kelangan at the same time hehe pwede ko siya gamitin on that specific application diba? Salamat ulit sir! :)
