it's perfect for your music dude...ok siya...rock amp talaga...the clean's a bit on the darker side...not yer typical fender cleans...but it's great for jazz...i don't own one so i can' say much about reliability...that would be phil's department.

back to you phil...

I own one...yes it's the Vai signature amp....it's a lead players amp.
Really smooth, creamy, and warm. ...for me it's one of the best lead guitar amp. It doesn't have that Fendery clean...but still it has that glassy midsy type classic clean tone....the dirty channel is phenomenal.

... hard rock/ alternative/ classic rock?  hell yeah.

Here...listen for yourself.....these are done by fellow Legacy owners.

and of course...the master

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=389019&songID=3493117

BTW...it's a LOUD amp....volume 1 is already loud.....since it's a tube amp ...you might want to crank the amp to 5 and up so you can really here this amp sing like a violin.

I was just doing my usuall window shopping here at the local guitar row (sunset strip). I went in SAM ASH MUSIC STORE and it just so happends that they have a Legacy half stack on the floor. I plugged an Ibanez Prestige neck-thru with a thick flame maple top (first time I've seen this model). Tried the amp and the guitar out. Now, the only Carvin I've had owned was the old X100B. That was a good amp but I tell you this Legacy was better. You can tweak the channel well enough to get a good clean and distorted sound. The reverb helps a lot too with the overall sound. Like what Phil said, this amp is a good lead amp, I think it's also a good rhythm amp. I was able to get a nice creamy bluesy sound to a nasty nu metal grind. The only thing that I noticed, and this is not a negative thing, is that the RIVERA M-100 that was beside the Legacy, to me have a cleaner more controllable clean sound. But hey, that's just me. All in all I would say that this amp is a nice overall amp to have in your collection. Now, next time I'll go to Carvin and try their CTM model through the Legacy and the V3 and see how much blown away I can get my self into, hehe. And that concludes my report.

Your local music auditor,
STRATMAN1

if i were to buy a non-marshall and non-fender twin amp, it will be the legacy. not only should it sound awesome, it is one of the best looking amps out there! i absolutely love the maroon thingy and cream chickenhead knobs!

Hehe, madaling kumuha, that's true. As a matter of fact, halos lahat ng kailangang gamit, e makikita dito. Ang problema lang, e yong pera. Kailangan paring kumayod. Kung masipag ka lang dito at ala masyadong bills alang problema makuha ang gusto mo. Kaso tamad ako at maraming pakaiin at card bills so hindi ko parin mabili ang gusto, hehe.

Obviously, if you play mostly cleans...a Carvin Legacy is not the amp for you.....go for Rivera's , Fenders, and the likes....although they have their nice versions of tube amps that can do cleans too.....different clean....well Carvin style clean.

it was dirt cheap.. i'm keeping a close look at it..  NZD400 for an all-tube head aint too bad.. but i need a cab since i sold mine.. 2 weeks ago! argh!

other choice was an AC15 for a little over NZD1000. so its a hard choice..

If by any chance you get the Legacy...it pairs real good with Celestion Vintage 30s.
