I need your help pro audio peeps, how can exactly tell if a shure SM57 is fake or not.
I found one for a whopping 1.7K brand new. I know it's too good to be true but let's just say the store where I found it could be too stupid to price it or too desperate to sell it because I am 99% certain people who go there would never buy the mic.
Upon visual examination, I can't see anything that may prove it's non-authenticity.
Wait, do SM57's come in a special box/case or do they just come in mass produced cheap boxes?
there are lots of fake microphones arround....of course the price speaks for itself, buy from authorized dealers or resellers, sometimes you need to use or own an authentic one for you to know the fake ones, minsan pareho ang itsura, but the weight and the sound quality is different, Based on my experiece before, there was one service provider in the middle east who sold me shure sm 58 mic, i bought 3 pcs. but we had an agreement if its fake i can return them, btw the mics came from europe, brought in by a european band.....
so when i got them, i went to a friend and checked and compared from his ORIG, Sm 58....marami at malaki ang deperensya....but the copy really looks authentic muntik na nga rin ako...heeheheeheh, then i returned those mics and just bought from a dealer...of course all shure mic have mic bags and gives stickers, the boxes are not cheap not and the printing is not blur...the sound is also not blur sound of fake shure microphones sound thin...and no body...
also weigh less than the originals also the sound is really far from the original ones.
