Yamaha Drums and Products Thread

Anyone here who owns a Yamaha Stage Custom Snare? ung 12x5? kung meron po maganda po ba tunog niya? kung wala po comments na lang po sa tunog nung snare itself in general... I'm planning on buying myself a 12x5 stage custom snare... as a secondary snare un na kasi pinakamura na 12x5 snare na nakita ko eh...

Try to check out Jonah Caling, the drummer of Rewind.  They are Luke Mejares' current backup band.  He's currently using a 5"x12" Stage Custom snare drum on gigs.

Lester (former drummer of Dimsum and Liquified Orange; don't know where he plays now) also plays the same snare drum on gigs.  Master Otep Conception also used to own and play one, I think.

Fellow Pinoydrums brother and 9th Ave. drummer Marco Katigbak also owns one, I believe.

i have a 12x5 snare once..pinitik sakin ng byahero its a good main snare..nice sidestick, solid sound..nice crack and beefy....

best buy to kapatid..kuha ka na 2 tapos benta mo isa sakin..hehehehe

I believe 19 East has one in their snare drum collection.  Its former owner is Paul Benitez, former drummer of South Border.  Instead of the maple hoops, Paul had the one with 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops.  I was able to play that drum a few times, and I like it.  This is a great-sounding power piccolo snare drum.  It has a good amount of warmth, crack and depth.  I like this drum.  This is perfect for groovy music.

Plus, with Steve Jordan being an active environmentalist, he asked Yamaha to use maple wood which are harvested from replanted forests, in order to preserve resources.

Before him, si JJ Johnson talaga idol ko pero nalaman ko na si Steve Jordan pala main influence niya.  They have the same groove, mas flashy lng si JJ Jhonson.

i know its good sounding and all, but that snare drum is just too pricey for me IMO
$470 in GC..madugo na sa atin yun diba? might as well buy a decent shell (with the snare parts, heads etc.) and assemble. better quality na yung shell, makakapili ka pa kung ano yung gusto mong ilagay sa snare drum mo at may possibility na mas mura pa siya dun sa sig. snare  nasasayo pa din yan

^ Well, it's known that Yamaha Drums has a reputation for being more on the pricier side, especially their high-end models and Signature drums.

kung richie rich ako i'll buy this for sure!!! (sig snare ni idol eh!!!) pero minsan ko lang gagamitin hehhehe!!! ang sakit siguro sa dibdib pag nakantuhan mo yung wood hoops nito... ouch!!! mahal din siguro replacement hoops niyan!!!

Yamaha's drums are still pretty much meticulously hand-made in a humble little factory in Osaka, Japan.  Which is why I guess it's understandable that Yamaha's high-end drums are a bit more expensive than its Japanese counterparts Tama & Pearl, which uses assembly lines and modern machineries.
