i want to learn blues..help mga master!..

pano po ba masasabing blues musician ang isang instrumentalist?..

what characteristics should one possess?..

pahingi naman po mga bosing ng mga kanta/banda na maganda pagsimulan..

here's my 2 centavos' worth...

1. Read the history of blues. The internet is a good place to start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blues
2. Search "blues", "blues music", etc. in Youtube.com. Listen to all blues songs you can find.
3. Take note of the blues song patterns (12 bar is the most common exa. Hoochie Coochie Man)
4. Jam with George Thorogood's "Bad to the Bone" @

Hi Oble sir,

There are tons of materials to start with:

1. Tinker with blues, minor, major pentatonic scales . I think you get the drift; you play metal. Slow it up a bit.
2. Get the 12 bar, I-IV-V relationship playing in your head. Once you get this, you go to the next step.
3. Play directly to an amp. Get the feel of of just the axe and the amp. Fender Bassman is the best!
4. I suggest listen to and sample blues from different eras; delta, chicago, even ragtime.
5. Here are some artists that'll help you get a head start. Eric Clapton - cream and derek and the dominos materials. Muddy Waters. B.B. King. Chuck Berry. Hendrix (Try Red house, which was also done by Eric Johnson). Jimmy Page / Led Zeppelin (Can't quit you baby)... Stevie Ray Vaughan / Jimi Hendrix (Voodoo Chile).

Blues is a "feel" music. Just squeeze and feel.

May nabili ako na Guitar World DVD "How to play the Blues" sa Booksale sa Greenhills. Pero hindi ko alam kung mayroon pa sila ng ganun. Helpful yung DVD na yun. Sa youtube madami blues lessons.

Here are some things to learn
1. 12 bar blues progression and turnarounds
2. pentatonic and blues scale
3. string bending (requires muscle memory and some band aid pag nasugatan  )
4. some more essential listening.....Statesboro Blues (Allman Brothers Band), Born Under A Bad Sign (Albert King), Texas Flood (Stevie Ray Vaughan), Highway 69 Revisited (Johnny Winter version) and the whole AC/DC Back in Black Album if you are more into Blues-Hard Rock. 

you may also want to use a heavier string gauge. I think Stevie Ray Vaughan uses a .012 gauge high E string. Also you might want to learn how to play the slide...

Kumuha ka ng instructor......learn the basics.

Yep Sir 430 is right.. Best options is to get a sensei.. Get a book, I had one back in HS, "Rudiments of Music"; learn all the basics, not just the blues.
