This is Robie, brother of the owner of the account...

I also started the hobby about 3 weeks ago. Initially i bought the Behringer BCD3000. Its cheap and works well. It has the same principles ng big ones. I suggest you do the same. Pag magaling ka na with this then saka ka na mag invest sa mga mahal na turntables.

@Zero44

The Korg Kaossilator is a great little gadget, and it'll allow you to do a lot of neat tricks. But what it cant do is get you through the basic skills needed to be an effective DJ, I'd suggest getting it after your main Djíng rig.

it'll all depend on what set of skills you want to learn first. Try to find out what things will you be able to do with a specific piece of gear, and how that applies to the skill you want to learn.

also, unfortunately, you'll be hard pressed to find a software DJ controller below 10k with full functions.

FYI, im not a DJ, just lucky to be surrounded by DJ gear, and in the process of learning its technicalities. :-D

thanks sir..

Hi Sir,

Yung Mixtrack is great kung mag aral ka pa lang. Yung 14k na price nya ay wala pang kasamang soundcard, so kailangan mo pang gumastos ng extra para dun, cguro around 2k and up para sa external soundcard na maganda yung klase. Meron ding cheap alternative which is to use a cheap usb 3D soundcard pero mag suffer naman audio quality.

Try nyo sir is yung Hercules DJ Mp3 E2. Limited yung buttons and knobs but you can map your computer keyboard and use it for the other effects.

Hi!  What external soundcard do you suggest that's around the 2k-3k price range?  Numark DJ I/O is kinda expensive for newbies.

Thanks.

@zero44

@rfe

@All
Meron po bang existing thread dito for DJ's? Makikisali lang, beginner lang din ako ehehe.

 Beginner din po ako sa Djing, ang ginagamit ko ngayon na Dj controller ay Numark Total control on a Traktor Pro.
 sa ngayon, medyo nakakapag-mix na rin ng maayos, though I know I still have a long way to go and some room for
 improvement. :-D

 a note on the Numark Total Control, I find it very useful if you are just learning to mix tracks. pang beginner ika nga.
 maayos naman pagkaka-layout ng knobs ang faders. And, madali na lang gamitin ang traktor once you get used to it.

 I bought mine as a package. It included the Controller, Audio Interface( Numark DJIO), Traktor LE(which I upgraded to Pro),
 and a headphone.  It costs me around 16,000 pesos.(dito po ako ngayon sa ibang bansa).

 @ zero44:
     I'm not sure sir kung magkano ang Total Control dyan sa atin sa Pinas, but I guess you can buy it at a price lower than 16K
     if you want the controller only. But then, you will also need an audio interface and a headphone to start mixing. For the mean time,
     maybe get the controller first, kahit later na lang audio interface and headphone. You can use your Pc's Audio out but you will not
     be able to sample the next track because you'll need an audio interface and a headphone to do that. Or, you could get other
     controllers with a built-in audio interface. :-)

 hope this helps! :-)

besides the improvement ng sound quality, and reducing latency (specially when you want to do scratching). You'll need a soundcard with 4 channels of output (or 2 stereo pairs) so that you can do cueing (as said above, sampling the track you want to play next, or beat matching before bringing in the the 2nd track).

as an alternative for beginners, you can config some DJ software to split your stereo signal. Mono for master, and mono for cueing.

@Pearlboy

I'd have to disagree sir. A good DJ controller isn't just for learning, it can also be used for actual gigs. In the end, what's important is the music, not the medium.  :wink:

depends siguro sa controller. But the nice controllers are already as expensive as players and mixers. Pero for me, whatever pleases you diba??? :)

DJ means Disc Jockey....

So if you're starting to be one you should start from the basics...

because its crazy..

we are who are today because our fore fathers were never satisfied and they kept on developing.
things are easier and achieved more efficiently today because of the upgrade in technology. Photographers now can start learning photography with the use of digital camera; IAFT (best film school in asia) teaches students to shoot films using digital HD video cameras. Not the old ones.

the reality for our generation is different from the generations ahead. If we want to learn photography, we would be wasting soooo much time, effort, and money by starting with a 110 film, then 135, then shifting to digital.

anyway, im starving... im going to get a frozen food from my refrigerator, and then use the microwave to heat it up,... and thats how i do it. :) at first i wanted to learn how to heat up food so i thought of learning to make fire with stones and sticks.. but thats just CRAZY!

talk to you guys later. eating time.
