TIPS ON TAKING PORTRAIT SHOTS.

ANG PORTRAIT SHOTS NA KINUKUNAN KO.

-rule of the thirds
-dark shirt minimal skin exposed so that face is emphasized.
-powder/makeup to remove minor blemishes and oily skin.
-relaxed athmosphere
-preferaby, you're chatting with the model about something nice/funny para natural ang smile.
-fill flash/lighting
-bounce reflector
-lens filter (warm or diffuser)
-FOCUS ON EYES
-Careful on Aperture, not too small not too big.

Amateur din po ako, pero may nagbigay sa akin ng tip when taking portraits
pinaka-maganda ung 45 degree angle. Accdg to the pros, that is the most
attractive angle for the human face, and also para di magmukhang i.d. picture
ang kuha mo.
Observe the pictures sa mga photo studios.

If you're using a large aperture prime lens like the 50mm set at f/1.8, focus on the eyes...

The eyes show the character of the subject. Medyo nakakatawa kasi kung sa ilong naka focus tapos may slight bokeh yung mga mata... hehehe

bokeh is too "slang" for a begginer in my opinion. and its not exactly a photographic term.  sa mga lumang books di mo makikita masyado tong word na to. in tagalog pag blurred part ng picture ito. or out of focus. ex. background na blurred.

i remember my film days, not too long ago kasi 17 ako nun nagfilm ako.(10yrs ago un hehe.. tanda ko na.)  i like the prime 85mm or 105 lenses for portraitures.were talking about portraitures right? and not whole body portraits? avoid distracting backgrounds kunwari portraits outdoor, make sure na the subject is the focus. kung indoor, bounce your  flash. beginer so malamang wala pang studio lights.

simple lang ang technique ko in taking portraits:

get close enough to the subject.

& take out the distractions by adjusting the aperture. (i usually go for, let's say, f2.8 or below)
