Bro, 2 Sets pa lang yan 8-) waiting mode pa ang lahat sa Set 1 nyo ni Endshiftresign

Set 1
1.   I Call Your Name- Constipation on Guitar
2.   In My Life- Bryan on keys, Me on Guitar
3.   Day Tripper- Bryan on Guitar
4.   If I Needed Someone- George on vocals
5.   Till There Was You- George on Guitar
6.   Please Please Me- Constipation on Harmonica
7.   From A window- Ninejuicyjulius on Guitar
8.   You Really Got A Hold On Me
9.   I Feel Fine- Constipation on Guitar
10.   I Should Have Known Better- Constipation on Harmonica, Bryan on Guitar
11.   Love Me Do- Bryan on Harmonica
12.   What You're Doin? Bryan on keys
13.   A World Without Love
14.   Drive My Car- Ninejuicyjulies on Guitar, Bryan on keys
15.  I'm Down

hmmm...lemme see.  copy-pasted this from slowhandpal's PM and made some minor changes.  bryan = burnsbhm, george = slowhandpal?  since we're going to be jamming in little more than 2 months from now, might as well be on first name basis with everyone involved.   :-D  constipation = eman, ninejuicyjulius = nine, este julius pala. :-D jammed with those two in short-lived side projects last year, while julius and i have this side project now that takes forever to be completed due to bassist problems... (although mukhang may nahanap na kami)

as for the set, i dropped "and i love her", "words of love" and "i don't want to see you again"...sorry, not too much of a fan of the mushy stuff, but we can leave a few in there.   :-)  and i added "a world without love" para may lennon-mccartney song pa rin tayo performed by peter & gordon...i was thinking "i go to pieces" but decided to go with something slightly more upbeat. then we have "you really got a hold on me", which is a good way to close out the first half, as everyone can join in the singing/screaming.  i personally like the zombies' version better, though.  the last addition to this list (which was mostly co-compiled by slowhandpal) is "i'm down", which would make a great set closer.  dun talaga tayo pwedeng magwala sa first set...

nga pala, on the topic of first name basis...family, friends, girlfriend and bandmates call me enzo.  upset bosses call me "hoy lorenzo late ka na naman sa trabaho!"

in my estimation, brokensauce can play about 6-8 songs. we focus on playing our compositions, but we do cover '90s alternative songs in the '90s-themed production where we're semi-regular.  beatles songs may take a bit of practice, especially for our guitarist, but i think mastering 6 to 8 songs by december should be simple enough pag nagamay na naming lahat...

suggestion:  let three bands perform half of each set, tapos tayo-tayo ang magjajam for the second half of each set.  for example, brokensauce does half of set 2, playing about 7 or 8 songs.  our "all-star band" would then tackle the remaining songs in set 2, parang intermission of sorts before the next actual band takes the stage, and at the same time keeping the crowd entertained.

as far as actual bands are concerned, we've got brokensauce and the satellites.  kakausapin ko ang brokensauce sa sabado pag nagrecording kami, but i'm almost sure they'll be up to it.  maybe we can audition for a third band sa gig announcements kung wala pa tayong mahanap, or kung medyo tight na kami (not to mention, find a bassist), baka pwedeng sumalang yung side project namin ni julius as the 3rd band...

sensya na kung medyo ngarag ang post ko...work day's over and (no pun intended) it's been a hard day's night!   :-D

With Four Bands participating playing 6 to 8 songs that would mean 24 to 32 songs out of the 45 numbers we've chosen, that would also mean much easier load for the All Star to concentrate on the remaining 13 to 19 songs. The songs on sets 2 & 3 and the Finale needs much preferential attention for us.

Not so worried about the Bass player because the Sattelites Bassist is very very good.. not to mention their Lead vocalist can really sing ala John Lennon.

What do you think Sir Bryan?

This is only my humble opinion guys please share your other suggestions. :-)

Magandang idea to bro. Hmmm. di na lang seguro ako sasali sa All Starr kasi tatlo din naman kayong guitarists to give more space to you guys, Bryan, Eman, Julius. Mas kailangan natin ang Bass at Keyboard player. Pero sasali ako sa Finale

Obet is based in Singapore so malabong makasama siya. As for the reggae band, sorry but I have to pass that proposal. I was really thinking of doing the songs strictly adhering to the original feel or arrangements. If we will be forced to get outsiders as bassist and keyboardist, then I guess let us just as much as possible stick to the originals. Besides it's John Lennon's anniversary we are commemorating so let us pay tribute by playing Beatles as Beatles.

Ok, let me make it clear again that if push comes to shove and we cannot get a keyboardist, just tell me and I will be stepping down as guitar player. I can play the keyboards on MOST tracks that really needs one. No problem on songs that demands a slide guitar (My Sweet Lord, Free As A Bird), I can handle that one.

May I request to drop Please Please Me? Because I don't have a harmonica that fits in E Major. Unless you are willing to transpose the song to F.

Siguro as a sign of courtesy and humility, may I humbly suggest also one of you guitar players to take up the bass instead?

Thats good :-) anyway pwede kita pahiramin ng diatonic blues harmonica key of E or kung gusto mo ako nalang din gagawa nun sa harmonica kung ok sayo para less kanalang trabaho, keyboard and guitar kanalng i believe mas matrabaho yung part mo. And pwede din ako magbass sa mga ilang kanta and i can sing and backup din.

Wooooooooohh great! I'm really looking forward to this day. E sa Youtube nga may mga Japon they paid tribute to The Best Band the World ever had. If kaya nila, tayo din. With the late addition of Constipation and the forces of Bryan & Enzo we can make it! 8-)

It's Real Love sir Bryan, not Free as a Bird which is equally beautiful

I think The Sattelites bassist will be more than happy to get that job. But the idea that one of the guitarists shifting to bass is also a good idea .

wow, dami palang nangyari dito nung weekend...i'm not able to check PM all the time, much less post on the weekends, since di ako makaconnect ng matino sa PM sa bahay...

anyway, if i may suggest, the (currently) nameless garage rock band me and julius have can take the 1st set, or any set with songs from 1964 to 1966, while brokensauce takes whatever set includes "i'm so tired".  all three members of brokensauce used to be in a reggae covers band a couple years back, at kasama sa covers list namin ang "i'm so tired"...

practice studio?  familiar ako sa mga studio sa cubao area.  ewan ko kung ok lang sa inyo, pero taga-cavite ako at sanay na akong magcommute to cubao to practice.  gig studio in ermin garcia is okay, P150 per hour and as far as i can remember, matino pa ang gamit nila nung last time namin dun.  cymbals lang ang problema, but my puny little 16" crash can take care of that for now.  yung drawback lang sa gig (and its sister studio KNR), medyo sabog magschedule ang mga tao dun.  we've had our practices moved without notice several times, or even cancelled dahil sa scheduling snafu.  pwede rin sa soundchamber sa la salle street (aurora boulevard, tapos turn left bago mag-toyota), P100 per hour pero medyo out of the way...maganda din gamit dun.

i'd also suggest we have a committee meeting sometime in the next two weeks.  di ako pwede october 2, may gig kami sa gabi, at samahan ko pa si gf sa hs reunion niya.  october 9 naman, recording tapos (sana) first practice ng garage band.  sundays, pwede ako...either before or after rehearsal with brokensauce, preferably after para pwede nang mag-inuman...   :-D  or october 16, i don't think i'm doing anything that day...

So Ok, here's a rough draft of what's gonna happen:

This will be a family affair - pang general patronage ika nga. Kasi aside from entertaining the old guys, we are educating the young ones about the greatest rock band that ever existed. So let us cut the rock star attitude and this will be very friendly.

There will be spiels in between songs so that would facilitate the learning for the kids.

Kung sakali may naupahan nang lugar for the event, let us save a small space for memorabilia and collectables (records, cds, books, dolls, scotch tape boards - Beatles adhesive tape, old biscuits - naalala niyo pa ba yung beatles marie biscuits, DVDs, posters, comic books, instrument related ads and endorsements, etc...)

I belileve the musicians should dress accordingly. Bawal ang jeans, t shirts and rubber shoes, let us dress like it's a real professional gig.

Sa Food, I suggest pot luck, sana may mga PM members who can help out sa food and drinks.

Lastly, let us bring some of our kids, para malaman nila what are they being deprived of the stupid radio format we have now.

WE are now raising a generation of professional musicians who have never heard of the Beatles!

great idea, sir bryan.   :-D  any suggestions where to hold the event?

finally, after some 8 years, a gig/large-scale jamming EB na walang alak...that's actually nice, for a change.  i've been quite wary about mixing booze and music recently...back in the day it would actually help me perform better and release anxiety, pero 32 na ako eh, and i'm getting older, fatter (in the belly), and sometimes unhealthier...i can still perform well while intoxicated, but for the life of me, i can't write those drunken melodies anymore...

the last booze-less event i played was the pinoyexchange "PiMP" (pinoyexchange musician's pool) EB nung mga 2001 pa.  the mods promised us na may inuman after the jamming...pero nalasing lang kami sa iced tea...    di rin natuloy yung PiMP, nadismaya ata ang mga mods ng PEx...since puro bata pa kami nun, all we wanted to do was jam, and not learn about the finer side of the music business...but i digress.  bryan, kudos to you for suggesting that this be a gig/jamming EB with a nice twist to it.  di pa ako family man like some of the others in this thread, but i will be in a couple years pag kasal na kami ni gf, and i'm all for letting future generations learn about the music from our parents' times...particularly the beatles.  iba talaga ang music dati...

pero ewan ko lang, siguro overkill yung sa stage attire.  no t-shirts, shorts and rubber shoes is cool with me, but can we still wear jeans?  just a suggestion...

Great Idea Bro! 8-)
I've been a Church Musician in the last dozen years and I always wear descent attire. I have no problem with that but to our friends who are not used to wearing one may not be as comfortable as we are.. I think wearing Beatles T shirts, clean rubber shoes & Jeans is cool. When I attended The Beatlefest with Pete Best lately it adds this joyous feeling seeing guys in Beatles Shirts, caps and bags.. shaking hands and exchanging smiles.

Aside from the venue, are we going to do this on the 8th of December? which is Thursday or on the 9th (which is also John Lennon's Favorite number). By the way when John was shot dead by Mark David Chapman it was already December 9 in his hometown Liverpool.
