Advanced time-stamp...
« Reply #2 on: March 16, 2007, 04:39:02 PM »
Hi. Has anyone noticed that timestamps on our posts are advanced?

It is around 4:39 PM as I post this. Let's see what comes out....

It says 5:39 PM. So, 1 hour advanced ang server clock?

testing testing....
As you know the US has done another time adjustment due to DST (daylight savings time). Our server is sitting in a rack somewhere in California, and this could be the result. If so, we'll have to manually change the system time.

I think DST is a drag and wonder why the Americans love it so.

it conserves energy, specially if you work offpeak. people turn in earlier, plus the longer the summer days, the better you feel at work.
Bakit hindi ka pwedeng mapuyat sa umaga?

oo nga... 1 hr advanced... doesn't seem like much of a bother, pero if there are  several people bidding on the same for sale item sa classifieds, baka magkagulo sila.

To the Mods/SysAdmins: kindly check and adjust if possible. Thanks.

Why don't you just text or IM the guy if time is of the essence?

A timestamp is a sequence of characters, denoting the date and/or time at which a certain event occurred. This data is usually presented in a consistent format, allowing for easy comparison of two different records and tracking progress over time; the practice of recording timestamps in a consistent manner along with the actual data is called timestamping.

Timestamps are typically used for logging events, in which case each event in a log is marked with a timestamp. In filesystems, timestamp may mean the stored date/time of creation or modification of a file.

Sir Jim,

My point was that sellers receive offers via thread posts AND text messaging. Reconciling which offer came first and who therefore to award a sale to MAY become a bit confusing with different timezones, if one is not aware beforehand of this difference/discrepancy. Otherwise, no biggie... Thanks.

We set our forum time to GMT +8, but it takes its cue from the server's time setting. If the time is off, then maybe the server (which is in the USA) has the wrong time for some darn reason. It doesn't really bother me though. Does it bother you? And if so, why?
