Hong Kong Camera Shops
« on: March 03, 2008, 03:44:22 AM »
Hi, hows everyone doin?

just droppin by to ask if you can post some recommended camera shops in hong kong. im out to buy a dslr for myself over there since I was informed that its cheaper over there. I usually buy my point and shoots at suntek at haiphong road but maybe you know a shop or a strip specially for digital slr.

i remember seeing a strip for SLR cams somewhere near yung kee goose restaurant at central, though im not sure if thats one spot to check out (not sure if film or digital slr area yun, but i see a lot of photographer lookin dudes over there with proper vests and all). its the street parallel to yung kee's wellington st. (i think its stanley street).

mongkok on the other hand is for me more for consumeras as i see a lot of digcam shops dominating that first electronic goods street parallel to nathan. nathan road naman around tsim sha tsui...well ive had some bad experiences over there...medyo lumang style ng panloloko--entice you to come in saying that you can get the camera that you want at the price youre askin, then while waiting for the stock theyd try to convince you with another camera theyre pushing, if you persist with the one you really want and wait---theyd say later on its unavailable at the moment and they cant sell the display..what a pack of b/s. i dont believe people still fall for that, but hey i guess so coz they still use it.

anyway, if you know some fair and reliable dslr shops over there carrying reasonably priced dslrs, please post the shops' names and addresses here so i as well as other prospective dslr enthusiasts visiting hong kong may check em out.

thanks for your assistance.  :-)

The D80 kit is around 48K with free 2gig SD card. Tignan mo na lang sa HK kung mas mura.

thanks for the replies guys. i was told kasi that its relatively cheaper there pero shempre mas mura daw sa japan example d300 body at 75k as of last january. in hkg naman example d80 body is at 30k so if i would compare that against phil d80 prices, thats at least 5k cheaper and since i'm in hkg coz of work every now and then, i might as well take advantage of the trips to check out slr stuffs.

if you can recommend more shops, please do so. i would really appreciate it.

kind regards.

Ingat ka din sa mga manloloko ha. Check your items before leaving the store. And please, mag test ka ng kahit 3 bodys and mga lenses, look for hot pixels sa monitor & sa image. Look for the sharpest lens. Bumibili ako sa
Suntek Company.
32D Haipong Road, Tsimshatsui. Kowloon. Hong Kong.
Baratin mo sila.
Kung makakatulong sayo ito ang Telepone number nila 2376-1200. Here's their website: www.suntekco.com.hk

pinaka recommended ko since i'm here in hk eh fortress. you can find fortress almost everywhere here in hk. 2nd choice mo is citicall pero halos same price lang sya sa fortress. you can check Mong Kok stores. mas reliable ang mga stores dun kaysa Tsim Sha Tsui. sa TST kasi may mga gancho rin dun. fortress ang pinaka best option mo if you want quality service and they offer international warranty and extension of warranty upto 3 years. dun ko binili D80 ko.
