Someone was selling his Roland VT-1 in the Pro Audio classifieds some time ago. For synth sounding emulations, you will need a vocoder... the Korg microKorg has one built in.
Sonar 4.04PE/5.2PE/7.02PE/8.31 PE, Project 5 v2.5.1, EmulatorX 1.5, Cubase SL2, Ableton Live 7.14,  Intel Q6600 MSI P43 Neo 4Gb Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800, Emu 1820m, Yamaha DSP Factory, Terratec DMX 6fire

For vocoding, you can technically use any sound source as the carrier but not all sounds translate well to vocoding (the Transformer's Soundwave is a good example... also Styx's Domo Arigato).

Roland's VT-1 is a real time vocal pitch shifter that can do one-man chorusing with gender changing algorithms and formant shifting.
