for bass.... its probably the easiest to do on a bass...well almost

hip hop's bass lines aint really that hard to do. just make sure they complement the kick drum. You can play it on the keyboard too and use vst's but there's no substitute for the real thing in some situations. Thats why always wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar

You can play your own, or filter a sample, or you can combine em both.

i can make hip hop beats in a flash... something as simple as 3 notes is enough to get a rap line flowing... although of course, you can never have grooving hiphop without drums or drum machines.
