Portable Powered Pro Speakers Recommendation
« on: July 23, 2015, 05:28:55 PM »
Hi Guys,

Need your suggestions and recommendations for portable powered pro speakers.

Main use will be for speech (conference, seminars, talks) and school activities (pageants, concerts, presentations). Main priority is vocal clarity...

The speakers will be used / relocated in seminar room, library, classroom and the largest is a 300-person capacity open quadrangle.

We already have a sound mixer, a Mackie ProFx16 v2.

I’ve done some research and asked some pro audio shops and these are what we are considering:

2-pairs of...

JBL PRX715

Wharfedale Delta 15A

 RCF ART 315A

Mackie SRM-450

QSC K12

Among these speakers, which would be best suited for our requirmenets?

Or do you have other suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance

i own 8 right now. installed 16 units since december. no issues and the price for a high end model is very reasonable.

I've used RCF, Mackie, EVs & QSC and IMHO, all of these will meet or exceed your needs.    I've never used Wharfedales but they get rave reviews.  I also have a pair of JBL Eon 612s and they sound great.

For my current setup, I use both the JBL PRX 715 and PRX 712.  If you're aiming primarily for vocal clarity, I would go with the PRX 712 -- consistent with user community claims, vocals are easier to mix and really jump out on the 712 compared to the 715.  But, if you're planning to use the 712s for loud music with thumping low end, pair it with subs (PRX 715xlf, 718xlf).  The PRX 715 has more low end so it can pass as a stand alone unit, but may be paired with subs as needed.

Best of luck on your search.

for demanding tour duty, i use jbl prx 725 and 718.  i already disposed of my 600 series. the prx 700 series are more durable.

the eon 615 for me is an all around workhorse given its price tag is unbelievably low for a high-end model.

Thanks so much sir Jef2 and noahgoode for the helpful insights and suggestions.
I've listened to the JBL Eon 612, 615 and PRX715 and I agree that they sound awesome...
Now we are planning in getting the PRX715 as mains and Eon 615 for stage monitors :)

The Eon 615 will be used for stand alone PA for in-room talks and seminars.
Great advice indeed...

Thanks again!

....we are planning in getting the PRX715 as mains and Eon 615 for stage monitors :)

Pro Sound and Stage Lighting's (PSSL.COM) deal of the day (NOTE:  offer ends at end of the day) for reconditioned JBL eon 615 is $360 (approx. P16, 200 each using P45 exchange rate).   Please see site for explanation of manufacturer reconditioned (brought to manufacturer's specs) items.  A new one normally cost $449 online.  I bought a reconditioned JBL cab one time and the only thing different from a new one were some scratches on the back screws.  Free shipping to your stateside shipper destination. I don't know current overseas shipping cost and all associated fees.

AGIPRODJ.COM is selling a brand new JBL PRX 715 for $835.12 (approx. P37,580 using P45 exchange rate) -- ($100 off from regular online price plus additional 12% store discount using the SAVE12 coupon at checkout).  Again, no tax and free shipping to your designated stateside shipper.  Their sale lasts a little longer than PSSL.com

If you're not hurting for cash, it might be better to buy from your local dealer.  They may be more sympathetic to resolving your problems if you end up with one.  But then again, I don't know why an authorized JBL retailer would refuse to honor a legitimate  JBL warranty.

Best of luck
