Hi guys,

Just want to inform you that in the coming months, AVID (the company, not related to Sony Avid shops), will be integrating all it's business units, namely: Digidesign, M-Audio, Sibelius, Pinnacle and Avid video into one business unit to be called AVID.

Digidesign for example, has been under Avid since 1994 and we believe that it's about time to be totally integrated with the parent company.

Though brand names and brand identity might change, be assured that this will still be the same dependable products you have come to love.

For additional info, follow this link: http://www.avid.com/us/pressroom/brand-identity.aspx

Cheers!

Sir, does this mean that newer products will be coming out again?

Nope. But you can definitely expect that all the brands will be working harmoniously, and will get some facelifts. :mrgreen:

Your unit might not need any facelifts as it's really a brand new one and one of the newest products that we released.

Cheers!

Actually, the history was like this:
1994 Avid purchased Digidesign;
2004 Digidesign, still being a separate entity from Avid, purchased M-Audio (formerly MIDIMAN), which was the reason for the birth of Pro Tools M-Powered;
2005 Digidesign purchased WIZOO, which became the Digidesign Advanced Instrument Research Group or A.I.R.
2006 Digidesign purchased Sibelius

Cheers!

Wish Pro Tools would be compatible with other hardware brands!
That would definitely increase the Pro Tools user base.

that is about as likely as apple selling osx to any pc vendor. while that has merits, it has its trade-offs.

avid's strategy is not new. but frankly, i personally prefer that avid focus on fixing bugs and enhancing their software for their existing base and prospective customers, rather than opening a pandora's box (pro tools on any hardware).

what you don't want are bugs/incompatibilities that get in the way of your creativity/workflow.
