Will egg cartons really help for noise reduction?

My studio is on the workz.. i need input whether egg cartons can help dampen the noise.. it's cheap that's why I am intrested.. Pls. advise tnx...

reduces echoes and reverbs pwede. make 3 to 5 layers of it. but NOISE? NEVER. You need MASS.

Does not have any appreciable absorption coefficient as tested in acoustic laboratories.  Unless you put fire retardant (a bit expensive), it is indeed susceptible to fire dangers.  Better to use proven absorber materials, i. e., glass fiber, rock wool, etc.  Foam is another dangerous material.  Be wary.
