ey you noticed that as well!!! it happens to the best of raffle draws, specially when the grand prize is a set of cymbals worth $$$$$. a very devious but common tactic is to announce a popular personality who happens to be a good friend or relative of so and so from the company.
im not gonna point out who's done it, all im saying is it happens. and obviously its not restricted to any single company or form of raffle. sadly, corruption is an everyday thing nowadays i guess. from beauty pageants to bingo socials to elections. bato bato sa langit, tamaan wag magagalit. hahaha...
if only there's someone out there willing to follow up or check the winners of a draw and see if they still have the prize with them, for all you know it could be back on the display shelf of the store or had never even left the showroom. but this option is not actually feasible due to privacy reasons, anyway im just thinking out loud and offering possibilities off the top of my head.
as the song goes: Sad But True. 8)

Just a thought... Don't attend drum clinics just to hope for raffle prizes or to grab some free food. Be there for the camaraderie among drummers, and for the opportunity to learn something from the drum clinicians. :wink:

yah nakakatawa lang minsan kasi... una yung mga prizes na maliliit lang like cds, records, shirts ang iraraffle tapos yung mga di kilalang drummers yung mananalo tapos pag cymbals na or drums na, biglang someone from the company, a friend or a relative ang mananalo... magbibiruan pa nga sila habang inaanounce ang panalo nila eh, at yung nanalo, di man lang parang nagtatatalon sa tuwa as in smile lang?? kung ako yun baka maluha pa ko... hehehe! :cry: :)

sana itigil na yang ganyang dayaan lalo na sa mga simpleng affair na may paraffle, wag na lang nilang iraffle kung lulutuin rin pala nila! ginagawa nilang [chewbacca] yung mga pumunta para manood tapos magaksaya ng panahon para magfill up ng ticket para umasa sa raffle na dodoctorin rin pala yung grand prize. sige gusto nyo, pm niyo sakin yung mga ilan sa mga pangalan at contact ng mga nanalo at kung ano yung prize na napanalunan at kailan/saan nanalo. pagsikat or celebrity yung nanalo, kahit pangalan lang ako na bahala mag-imbistiga para sa inyo tapos ilalantad ko dito ang resulta. bwahahaha

According to my source from JB, they'll be selling the clinic tickets for Php150. I'll just post an update when I hear about any further developments.

guys and pips meron akong stupid question, di ba gaganapin daw tong clinic sa music hall ng MOA, bakit kailangan may tiket kung open air yung venue? tapos meron ding balcony area so kita rin si aronoff at sure na meron din silang ilalagay na projector.
unless plano nilang lagyan ng tent ang music hall at bakuran yung tent para di mo makita yung clinic, what's the point of charging 150 pesos?
lugi naman ata yung magbabayad dun sa mga manood lang for free...

According to my source, when you have a ticket, you are guaranteed a seat at the venue. Plus, an opportunity to meet and greet Kenny himself, and ask for his autograph and have a photo with him.
Those without tickets would be able to watch the drum clinic. However, they won't have the privilege and opportunity of shaking hands with Kenny, have his autograph, take a pic with him, etc etc.
Other than Kenny Aronoff, most of the local Zildjian artists will also be present at the event.

i've got 5 seats assigned already woopeedoo!
i think 150 is fair to get upclose with the clinician, probably ask him a couple of sensible drum-related questions and mingle/socialize with other local drum talents attending the clinic.
for starstruck-apprehensives and shy-types: get a freeview (if you wish), bring out your videocam, record and zoom-in to your heart's content.

Hi guys! In fairness with Yupangco, wala namang lutuan na nangyari during Virgil Donati's 2nd clinic, a few years back. Pinalad kasi na ako ang nanalo ng grand prize that time, a set of Pearl 6-Piece Drum Set. Wala naman akong connection or kakilala sakanila pero nanalo ako sa raffle. O di ba? I guess nagkakataon lang kung sikat o kakilala nila ang nananalo. Talagang ganun, swertehan lang. Tama ba sir JP? :D Lets be thankful na lang at libre ang mga events ng yupangco at minsan may chow pa. See you guys sa Zildjian Day! Happy drumming!

I just heard from one of my friends that JB Music is not selling the tickets for the Aranoff clinic unless you buy 2,500 worth of Zildjian products, can anybody confirm this...
If this is true, then this is a rip off, not all musician can spend that much to get a ticket of a great artist... Hope this is not true...

It's a Tama Remote Hat Pedal alright. I approached his kit to take pictures and have a closer look. The pedal for his right-side remote hi-hat is positioned between the traditional hi-hat stand & the double bass pedal's slave pedal.

The girl in the Pinoydrums members pic is Carmela.
The kid prodigy who jammed with the Zildjian endorsers is Arien Pulumbarit, one of Sir Jun Regalado's best students. He was present at the Pinoydrums EB last June. The kid approached me, asking me when the next EB will be. He's offering to bring his drumkit.
And yes... That's a Starclassic Bubinga Omni-Tune drumkit, one of the sweetest drumkits I've ever seen and heard. *drool*

Hey bro! It was nice meeting you. I now have three signatures on my Tama Starclassic Maple snare... From Simon Phillips, from Dom Famularo, and the newest one from Kenny Aronoff. Simon and Kenny are Tama artists, kaya sakto yung pagpirma sa snare ko. Dom is not a Tama artist, but he still signed my drum haha!

And in case you guys didn't notice, Kenny used his right-side hi-hat more as his main hi-hat.
He used the standard-position hi-hat more as a second hi-hat, for accents and whenever he's playing his auxiliary snare drum. I was waiting for him to play the left-side hat with his left hand. I've read and learned that he can play open-handed.

Gdpm po mga Sirs....may nakakuha ba ng videos ng Zildjian day 06, about sa fernando topic tingin ko depende din sa mga skin na gagamitin mo we had before fernando din ang panget lang ay yung skins so nung pinalitan namin ng remo yun na & syempre sa pagtotono...totoo din yung depende sa nagamit it means experience.yung bata pakasi ako nagtataka ako kahit parang lata na yung drums napapatunog ng older brother & uncle ko yung drums...tape dito, tapal dyan, tono don...siguro gets natin lahat...its also about experience....saludo sa mga tamboleros...GDBLZ

Anyway... kwento ko lang... After the clinic, I had the privilege of joining Kenny Aronoff for dinner. We were with Kim, Bob, and Tina of Zildjian, and Joel, Jerico Fernando. Kasama rin namin dad nila. We had dinner at Grilla in Rockwell.
Sarap na sarap si Kenny sa Kare-kare at sisig! Di nalang namin sinabi na gawa sa buntot ng baka at mukha ng baboy yung kinakain niya... hehehe
Sayang, di ako nakapagpapicture dun... I just had my cymbal signed nalang...

It's a Tama Remote Hat Pedal alright. I approached his kit to take pictures and have a closer look. The pedal for his right-side remote hi-hat is positioned between the traditional hi-hat stand & the double bass pedal's slave pedal.

according to the zildjian website, yes they are. and nung clinic parang oo eh. pero wala naman siyang nabanggit kung ano sizes nung hats niya. so i would assume parehong 14". sarap sa tenga pareho nung mga hi-hats niya!:D

^ ^ ^ did you get a chance to talk to him? may ere ba o talagang super bait lang niya? hehehe... i have this feeling na medyo madumi yung bibig niya kasi the "f" word slipped out during the clinic ni-rephrase lang niya agad. hehehehe...:D ok lang naman. i'm just asking kasi i really wanna know what he's like behind closed doors. not that i mind na he said the "f" word.

bakit ang mahal ng fernando? diba local brand lang naman yan?
siyempre kasama yong cymbals, pero kahit na local brand lang lang ok naman sa quality, at sa nakita ko kung sila mark, vic, etc... ang papalo dyan ayos dahil mahuhusay naman yan, kahit local lang ang gamit nila alam nila kung anong gagawin, papano naman kung imported nga yong gamit, tapos di naman marunong.

Yup! Ang dumi ng bibig niya! Puro tinga! He didn't even use toothpicks! Pero seriously, I didn't get to talk to him that much cause I saw that he was really enjoying his food. And they had to leave early because they had a 6am flight to Singapore. And I didn't want to bring up drum stuff during the dinner. Tapos na kasi trabaho niya e. He's a very nice guy! Didn't sense any sort of air from him...

DATE 6 MANILA PHILIPPINES
Manila was amazing. At least 1,500 people came to my drum clinic. It was definitely a unique place to have a drum clinic. The biggest shopping mall in Asia. I played on a big stage at one end of a huge open area in the Shopping Mall. It was a crazy concept, but it worked.
At least 800 chairs were filled at ground level and then 700 hundred or more people watched me from three different levels of the Mall. The people just hovered over the railings that wrapped around the area that the people were sitting in while watching me. Imagine a small football field where I was set up at one end zone on a 10 or 12 foot high stage. There was a high ceiling like in an in door football stadium and behind me was the ocean. It was wicked hot and humid.
MTV Philippines had me do a small spot where I requested a new video that is out right now. I requested the new John Mayer video/song. Right before I performed they had a huge and I mean huge fire works display.There was a big PA, light show, and video screens to make the clinic seem like a rock concert.
The show opened with Philippines Zildjian artist Mark Esqueta and his band Rivermaya who were amazing. The company JB Music put the clinic on with Zildjians support of course. JB is Jett and Elizabeth who own a big distribution company and own 13 music stores and 7 sports stores.
The clinic went great and afterwards we ate some amazing food from Manila. Fish and meat with peanut sauces and spices. Great beer down there also. : ) Once again I only got 4 hours to sleep because we had to get up at 5:30 am to fly to Singapore for a clinic.
In Manila they have these crazy cars called Jeepnees (Jeep - knees). They are long jeeps that carry people all over the city like taxi cabs. People are jam packed in these low ceiling jeeps. They are so cool though. I wish I had one in the USA so I could drive my drums around.
