Kailangan seguro sir may mga committees or in charge sa repertoire, exhibits, groupings. kahit one day affair. 3 sets of 10 songs each. example set 1 Beatles songs, set 2 songs nong disbanded na ang Beatles, set 3 super jam na..parang All Starr Band, pwede interpretations na ng performers. magandang idea to sir sana matutuloy.

sino drummer at bass player dito? keyboard player din atbp

haha let's do it by popular demand guys. let's try to make a set list on set.

set 1 Beatles songs

1. While my guitar gently weeps
2. In my life
3. Drive my car
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Set 2 Post Beatles

1. Silly Love songs
2. Imagine
3. My Sweet lord
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

set 3

1. With a little help from my friends
2. It don't come easy
3. Not such a bad boy
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

suggested songs lang to..

regarding trading items...i just might be willing to trade a copy of "the beatles" (by bob spitz) for a copy of "the lives of john lennon" (by albert goldman).  i bought my copy of spitz's book for nearly P1500 in 2007 thinking it was as good as it's hyped up to be...it turned out to be good, but way overrated.  mas ok pa yung "shout" (by philip norman), at least kasama din dun yung post-beatles history ng individual members, although it's a bit slanted against paul and george.

as for "the lives of john lennon", i realize that goldman did a hatchet job on lennon with this immediate post-assassination release, but i've always been curious to see what's in there.  bookay ukay used to have a copy, but i was broke when i saw it for sale about a year ago...

pag-iisipan ko muna...especially since i'm not exactly the best handler of books out there.  (although di naman to the extent of severely dog-eared or torn pages.)  and speaking of books, i hope mark lewisohn would hurry up with the first part of his three-part beatles biography...this year daw irerelease yung first part, with the third due in 2018.  dammit, by that time i'll be 40 years old and ringo starr would be pushing 80...     but it's apparent lewisohn wants to do as good a job as possible and take as much time as he needs.  given his reputation as the world's ultimate beatles authority, here's hoping it's a good one!  :-D

Most welcome Slowhandpal. It has to be said that the remaining members of the Quarrymen are alive and well and STILL MAKING MUSIC! They recently released a cd made of covers of 50s rock standards. All of them repertoire of the band back in the day.

They have an official website. You can easily google it.

Also, they have lots of youtube videos. Check them out!

correct me if i'm wrong, but eric griffiths of the quarrymen died about a year or two ago...  :(

other than that, you're right, the rest of the non-beatle quarrymen are still alive, kicking, and playing music!   :-D

That would be great! What do you think Bryan? If we have enough numbers mas masaya segurado. Is he left handed bro?   Pagamitin natin Hofner Bass, sayang! na kay Dyugs na bass ko but I'm thinking of inviting him this early. Sana walang conflict sa sked nila at sa manager :-).They used to cover Beatles before they became what they are now. I'm just so glad they didn't change despite of success.

nope...righty siya, unfortunately.  but i'd say he's quite good for someone who just started playing the bass in '08...   :-D

and yes, i do remember the itchyworms bago sila naging sikat, nung pineplay pa sa in the raw yung mga demo nila.  they covered a lot of beatles songs when they were just starting out...

Produced by yoko ono.

For me the more the merrier. Ang iniisip ko if this thing pushes through, the emphasis would be more on the music, the band and the potential friendships we can make that day. So if we can have a lot of musicians why not? Pulot pulot lang naman tayo so I reckon we cannot possibly play all 4 sets.

For the proposed 4 sets I made, washboard is not needed hehehehehe......I doubt if anyone of us can play skiffle.....But you can never tell...... 8-)

I only hope we can find a keyboardist and a female singer for that day. This is A LOT of music and some of them have intricate piano and strings arrangements. Paano kung nag-request pa ng mga Sgt. Pepper materials?

For the female singer, para naman ito sa mga Cilia Black tunes.

Oh I don't have a treasure chest hehehehe.....I just want to complete my Beatles music on LP.

As Bryan mentioned the emphasis will be the Music of The Beatles.

We'll try to complete the sets till end of July, then we'll conceptualize and finalize the plan that includes the following:

1. Final number of sets and songs. I believe we also play songs they recorded in collaboration with other          artists eg. Badge(George & Clapton), Ebony & Ivory( Paul & stevie), Yer Blues (John with Clapton), Day after Day (George with Badfinger), The Man (Paul & Michael) jeje ano pa ba?
2. Final list of participating musicians
3. Venue for at least one rehearsal.
4. Musicians to play the particular set. If the numbers may not be enough, we may form just a 4 piece Band (drums, guitar, keyboard & bass) and call on players to play for particular songs.
5. Final Venue.

By mid August mas ok if alam na natin details para yon na lang ang irerehearse natin. Basta ang last two numbers tayo na lahat. ANo final song? With a little help from my friends o Abbey Road medley? Golden slumbers/ carry that weight/The end?

This is a group effort by all Beatles fans started by Bryan, let's help him plan everything on set. Feel free to air any suggestion guys so this would be more joyous

May I add:

I am also heavily thinking to keep costs down as so many of us are not financially well off. Siguro we just celebrate in someone's house na malaki or a clubhouse of a village or barangay. Sa instruments, let us just find the cheapest rental just make sure na hindi naman pupugakpugak ang gamit. We must remember by December mahal na ang rentahan ng instrumento.

Hindi rin naman siguro kamahalan kumuha ng San Mig light and Red Wine and soft drink for the proceedings.

I also want to shout out to those guys na may connection sa Media ESPECIALLY Rock oriented media. Siguro we can invite a DJ to be the host (kung buhay pa si Howlin' Dave, he would be the PERFECT candidate for this).

I am also thinking of this as a family affair. You can bring your high school kids so they can have a music education that they cannot get in their schools but mine (I am not bragging but me being a music teacher, I include rock in my curricula - be it Beatles or Lady Gaga - they are worthy of being studied). We get the host give snippets of info about the Beatles ESPECIALLY John Lennon being his 30th year anniversary of passing.

Inviting the Bloomfields or the Bloom Brothers? Wag na lang - mahal! Let's give out the music for free! I'm sure there would be a lot of pro musicians who will not pass up this opportunity to make friends and connections hereby giving his services for free (Like me!)

Sana matuloy itong proposed jam to commemorate John's death anniversary.

But if this proposition really means something, we can shell out a bit. Isa pa marami ang me gusto nito  :-)

Are you planning to jam it as Beatle sounding or with more spice?

7. Twist and Shout
8. Boys
9.
10.

4th set - written but not recorded by the Beatles

1. Bad To Me
2. World Without Love
3. Come And Get It
4. Nobody I Know
5. I Don't Want To See You Again
6. From A Window
7. Hello Little Girl
8. I'll Be On My Way
9. I'll Keep You Satisfied
10. It's For You (if any female singer will join)
11. Like Dreamers Do
12. Step Inside Love (same as #10)
13. That Means A Lot

Pag napuno o na finalize na set list i rearrange din siguro natin songs depending if we want to do it Slow to fast songs or the other way around.

Hi! Welcome back bro, you've been away too long.

@ stringman, so far nasa pre planning stage pa lang tayo bro.. what's your suggestion Sir Karl? What do you mean by with more spice?

I do some beatles songs pero some I have re-arranged. Like my version of Ticket to ride has a funky vibe.
I have stated that there are more bad sounding suhrs then there are good ones.
