It all depends on how much you can remodel, the size of the room, the acoustic quality that you want and etc.

I myself am working on my practice room for my drums. Kelangan sound proof, kasi  sensitive ang neighbor. Pwede na ba ito?

4" CHB +2" rock wool 60 + 1/2" gypsum board for the walls.
Sa floor di ko pa alam ang diskarte ko dun. Nsa 2nd floor yun room, concrete floors.

Acoustic board is ok if you want to absorb mid to high frequencies, but never use it to isolate sound.  For isolation purposes you use double leaf gypsum board on metal studs with glass fiber inside.  If you have more budget, you can buy the vinyl noise barrier as additional isolation material.  Foam is very dangerous to use. Its a very flammable material.  If you want wedges, glass fiber has better absorption characteristics.

hmm... bka ok na gumawa ka na lang ng "false wall" kung nirerentahan mo lang ung place and me literature din kasi na nagsasabi na maganda din pag "lutang" sa actual hard wall yung acoustic treatment...

That's the beauty of a gypsum-glass fiber-metal stud combination.  You can unscrew the boards and put them somewhere else.  Yes, they can be moved.  I have done that in my old studio and transferred it to the house TRACKS is in now.

The floating room technique definitely is a better set up compared to when the room uses the structure's flooring.  However, building a room within a room is quite expensive.  If you plan to rent out a room for 250 per hour, your investment will take years to be recouped.  Also, if you invest on something like that, better not to DIY.  Ask the experts.  You can save money by doing that - even if you pay the experts' professional fees.  Acoustics is something whiuch requires not only theoretical but practical experience as well.  Ask the supposedly expert's resume and list of work.  Visit what he has done and discuss with him his ideas.  If they make sense, he may be okay in doing the project.  There are a lot of those who try to pass themselves as experts but in reality do not know anything about acoustics. much more studio design and construction.  Be wary.

FWIW.
