Julian Lage, the most important guitarist of this decade
« on: January 16, 2018, 07:03:31 PM »
Title says it all. I've never fanboyed over a guitarist in a long time but have been in awe of this player for a few years now. Real virtuoso IMO and am so excited about the upcoming record!

This thread is useless without vids!

This one I enjoyed. Laid back then goes intense. Very dynamic. Smooth.

Hindi ba si Taylor Swift kasi she's influencing young kids (especially girls) to buy guitars? You know...the new Eddie Van Halen  :-D :-D

Kidding aside...yup, he is a monster guitar player indeed. Jazz on an electric solidbody (let alone a telecaster) is always awesome!
Its not the kill, Its the thrill of the chase...

Oo pare! [apple] yung Arclight, pati yung work with Nels Cline. Have always been partial to his trio work. Didn't like that album with that hillbilly redneck friend of his though.

Thanks. Gonna hunt his cd sa local library and insert it in the restaurant playlist.

Yeah. I mean I loved his solo work with mostly an archtop, but I was totally blown away when he did his trio work with a Tele.

Classy. For the video posted, is that like a low watt dark sounding tube amp?

I spotted a small tweed style amp in the corner. At times it reminded me of that bassy Neil Youngish loose type of girth.
His touch is superb and very clean to get away with the amp set like that.

Tweed dirt is really something else. It's a fool's errand to try and get a clean tone from a Tweed amp esp now that we have better options. When you want a complex dirty tone, go for a tweed.
