This is a tough one.  I once ABed all at the same time my modified Vox Wah with JD Red Fasel Inductor with Riken Ohms and True bypass against a Budda Wah, a RMC clyde and an old vintage vox king wah.  Iba iba sila lahat.  But i still loved the old Vintage Vox King wah because it just sounded more analog and smoother to the ear.  Ang Problema lang sa King Vox, limitado ang range.  So, unfortunately, you have to find it out for yourself.  Again, you have to bring your whole set up to test which wah fits your gear.  By the way, all wah pedals were tested here in manila thru several strats into a Dr. Z amp.

This is a useful comparison. I've also been on the hunt for a good sounding wah, but want the convenience of AC power supply and TBP.

Na-try mo na ba ung Vox V848?  Are there other wahs out there w/ similar features w/ better tone and quality (may quality issues daw ung parts ng Vox e)?

What are the other options?

Dunlop Crybaby Classic! You won't regret it! Only $89 too! Serious! This is the Bomb!

In the past I never really paid much attention to wah wah pedals, I just thought it was something you had to have if you're a guitar player...I never really thought anything of it, tone-wise...

Then I heard this one...

how about the maintenance? How do you prevent those pots from getting scratchy?  I used a crybaby of my cousin's once. but since he didn't take good care of it, the next time i tried the wah it became really scratchy! :x

one of the reasons i bought the WD7 is because optical sya so walang wear and tear. :D

Stratman,

Reese Clyde and moddified Vox had more range and more transparent at mas may frequency bandwidth but the vintage King Vox had a more nasal sound.  Smooth sa ears talaga ang luma.  I wish I could get a wah with the range and transparency of the Clyde but the softer analog and nasal sound of the vintage King Vox.

for something alittle bit different that may come to your liking:

dod fx-17 volume/wah

IMHO, this a very underrated stomper. perhaps its tone is an acquired taste? but i guarantee: when the mini-screws that adjust the sweep and tone are set properly, it can "emulate" a good vox/crybaby, plus more. to give it more dirt, add a nice overdrive stompbox set to light crunch before it. its "chewy" tone is addicting, i've had a morley and a few crybabies over the years, but when i heard this they were blown away.

for samples check out

www.avibortnick.com  - his sample tunes feature this, awesome!

check it out on harmony-central too ;)
