Anong isang awit na sinulat ng isang Pinoy artist ang sa palagay nyo ay nagdefine sa kanya/kanila bilang isang musiko? state your reasons. contemporary artists lang muna. NOTE: artists ha, hindi mga cheesy remakers.
off the top of my head i have
Kitchie Nadal - MAJIKA. nevermind it being the theme to a magic drama. forgiveable lyrics, but the arrangement is IMO good.
Imago - ALAY. Taning is close second.
Orange and Lemons - LIHIM.
UDD - Tadhana. check the extended version as well.
yan muna. yours?

this song is so good!
siguro sakin "minsan" ng e-heads, ganda ng pagkakasulat, it's an anthem, at nangyayari yon..
"your universe" ni rico blanco IMO is really good.
rivermaya's 214
urbandub's fallen on deaf ears
joey ayala's tabi po
gary granada's bahay
gloc 9's kislap
vst and co's awitin mo isasayaw ko, yes madalas mo marinig at korni na sa iba, pero pag pinakinggan mong mabuti may dahilan bakit that song stands the test of time.. :-D
POT's panaginip
tropical depression's kapayapaan
yan lang muna..

pamatay na bass line :)
Sampaguita - Nosi Balasi -> strong yung message nung kanta
-
I would say KITCHIE NADAL - FIRE.
solid arrangement and progression.
-
Itchyworms - Love team
-
2) Freesstyle - SLOW. Jinky's lung power ang isa pang remarkable dito.
-
Rizal Underground - Bilanggo
Orient Pearl - Pagsubok
-
Imago-akap(former untitled song)
Pot-yugyugan na
Eheads-el bimbo
Parokya ni Edgar-halaga
Eto e nakakairita pati Banda na gumawa nilang joke
Chocosci-Paris hehe(I watched a gig with them a long time ago and all the vox was saying is next song namin e Paris, pero Hindi naman.hehe
-
gulo by asin !!!!!!!
-
Pedicab - FX
Old Rivermaya - Elisi
New Rivermaya (but still wit Rico) - You'll be safe here
-
Datu's Tribe - Praning. Their first and their greatest song. Yung areglo, yung tongue and cheek vocals/lyrics. Defined ang individual instruments. Ang galing talaga!
-
Yeng Constantino's - Pangarap
the half time feel of the verse makes the song crawl, and then it goes back to the normal feel on the pre-chorus, and then finally the 4th notes on the chorus before fianlly hitting an 8th note groove.
i think its a good study on basic song arrangement - how to give your song a feeling of speeding up, without speeding up the metronome
-*-
jose mari chan
just because his voice range is probably only 2 octaves, but damn he can write songs! you do not need to have adam levine's range to be a good singer. Glen Jacinto (teeth) probably agrees.
-
Rico Blanco (as solo artist) - Yugto
The lyrics again, gustong gusto ko ang metaphors at yung tugtog at boses. Masasabi mong tatak Blanco. hehe
-
UdD - Blessed (that drop. seriously.)
Eraserheads - With A Smile (really well-made pop song. the kind that should have a worldwide release)
Parokya ni Edgar - Halaga (that two guitar harmony, plus the lyrics)
Kitchie Nadal - Fire (most intricate track I think she had, and the tension and release is amazing)
VST & Co. - Ipagpatawad Mo (the lyrics are well crafted for a personal experience)
The Youth - Mukha ng Pera (lyrics)
Mayonnaise - Pink White Blue, especially the 2014 version. (powerful melody, not too much tension)
Kjwan - You Didn't Know (goes from sexy to in your face blues funkathon)
Sandwich - Klepto (short, sweet, magulo, straightforward, and representative of the band's sound during and after Abaya)
Reese & Vica - Witching (intricate orchestration for both guitar and vocals)
Giniling Festival - Siling Giniling (ewan, masaya kantahin, educational kasi may spelling, tapos metal)
Rivermaya (Blanco era) - Balisong (interesting orchestration)
Rivermaya (Bamboo era) - 214 (the chord progression, I suppose)
Kamikazee - Narda (fun, double entendre, love song pop and everyone knows the melody for the backing vocals more than the lead)
Narda - Kamikazee (trippy orchestration with trippy/deep lyrics)
Jejaview - You and Your Fantastic Friends (more of a signature sound, I suppose)
Kate Torralba - Under My Stars (it's always the lyrics that gives identity to her pieces, so Northfleet and Drunk on Your Love ain't far behind)
Sugarfree - Hang Over (most consistent with their identity, Sugarfree's sound is pretty unique)
Silent Sanctuary - Kundiman (orchestration, and has a lot of room for improvisation)
Spongecola - Gemini (a waltz, and the lyrics aren't so cryptic as with their other English works)
Hale - Blue Sky (for some reason everyone loves that)
Franco - Song for the Suspect (heavy, straightforward, kind of like a signature song)
Never the Strangers - Everything (try mo na lang di umiyak, Davenport a really close second)
Urbandub - Sleight of Hand (orchestration + lyrics, picking a single Dub song is hard because the sound is different)
Kapatid - Sonic Assault (it's trippy, groovy, and in 7/4)
Klieglights - Kriminal (signature sound, top notch lyrics)
Eruen - When the Lights Are All Gone (lyrics, plus those sweet, sweet harmonies)
Greyhoundz - Jack in the Box (lyrics mostly, and danceable, sarap ilagay sa DJ set)
Razorback - Payaso (super groovy, has a solid structure)
-
The Dawn - Iisang bangka (bakit di "salamat"? mas gusto ko arrangment nito)
Ogie Alcasid - nandito ako (pag narining mo yan alam mong ogie)
Gary V - Di bale nalang (Iconic song, maririnig parin hanggang ngayon)
Basil Valdez - you (good catchy pop song)
Apo - Blue jeans ( ang hirap mamili sa Apo. haha pero eto kasi medyo against the norm)
RJ jacinto - muli
Urban flow - Miss pakipot ( yun lang alam kong kanta nila, pero almost every 90's kid knows it)
Francis M - kaleidscope world ( wala yatang debate dito)
Rey Valera - Kahit maputi na ang buhok ko ( one of the best tagalog love song ever written imo)
Cinderella - Bato sa buhangin
Boyfriends - manila
Celeste Legaspi - saranggola ni pepe (that voice, so clean and distinct)
yan na muna
-
Ariel Rivera - Photograph (Regine Velasquez on backing vocals)
Juan dela Cruz - Panahon (mas gusto ko to kumpara sa Himig Natin, guitar and nagpapayong lyrics)
-
Neocolors - tuloy parin
Sugarfree - Mariposa
Stonefree - Angel sa lupa
Bamboo - Mr Clay
necro bump indeed :-D
-
Old Rivermaya - Elisi
dispute:
Awit ng Kabataan

-
Willie Revillame - Beep Beep Beep Sabi ng Jeep (Dubi Dubi Dap Dap)
-
