Yes Kirk Hammett is half Filipino.

I have their coffe table book "So What" and he actually wrote there that his heritage is Filipino. He even has a picture in there with his lola who was more than 90 years young.

Don't forget Joey Santiago of the Pixies.  Not sure if he's 100% Filipino though.

Joseph Alberto Santiago (born June 11, 1965) is a Filipino musician, guitarist for the Pixies and The Martinis.

Santiago was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Yonkers, New York at the age of 7, but spent most of his childhood in Massachusetts and eventually matriculated at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. There he met Charles Thompson (later Frank Black), with whom he dropped out and formed the alternative rock band Pixies in 1986. The band released 5 albums through the 4AD record label before falling apart in 1993. The band reformed in 2004 with all the original members, touring throughout that year. He describes his guitar playing as "angular and bent", attributing much of his style to songs he enjoyed when first learning the guitar such as "Savoy Truffle" (a composition by George Harrison on The Beatles so-called 'White' album)

Santiago went on to make guest appearances on Frank Black's solo albums and form The Martinis with his wife Linda Mallari. He helped write the score for the 2000 film Crime and Punishment in Suburbia and the 2003 film The Low Budget Time Machine, both along with Frank Black. Also of note, Santiago co-scored with Michael Andrews for the sixteen episode Fox Network TV series Undeclared in 2001-2002.

Hi

Just to add to the whole Zwan thing, David Pajo is really more known here in the US as guitarist for the most influential indie rock band ever, Slint.  Sure, everyone says they're influenced by Nirvana but most indie rock bands, especially the ones doing emo and and math rock should check out 1991's Spiderland album.  Odd time signatures and whispered/screamed/chanted vocals have been cribbed by many bands this side of Yellowcard.  Slint recently toured the US to sold-out dates.  So...if you could score a copy of Spiderland, be proud of the fact that there's another Pinoy out there that influenced a lot of indie rock guitar players (aside from Joey Santiago of The Pixies).  First pic is of Slint.  David is the one at the extreme right side.  The second pic is the album cover of Spiderland.

Thanks for the information bro, And Spiderland is one of the best album of the 1990's by Spin magazine
