RJ Broadcaster: what the hell were they thinking?

Not sure if you've read it but RJ Guitar Center put out a presser talking about their top of the line guitar called the Broadcaster:

Not familiar with how copyright laws work over time but wasn't this exact model name the reason why we have the Telecaster in the first place? Should we expect either Gretsch or Fender to raise an eyebrow over this?

too small of a market for Gretsch or Fender to give a rats ass, IMHO.

with rj's capacity to manufacture guitars, they could have at least build something with an original and straightforward design. no gimmicky stuff. even if they will just get ideas or inspiration from classic guitar designs. similar to what duesenberg and fano does. i might consider buying an rj guitar if they will do that.

Wala naman pakealam yan si RJ, pag trip nya kopyahin, wala sya pake.
Naalala niyo yung RJ forums na exact copy ng philmusic? Pati description nung boards di manlang pinalitan. Hahaha

to be honest, I like the craftsmanship of RJ before. The Korean made RJ guitars. Now, I don't know.
