mga sirr~ i want a psp!!! hehe

i hope you guys could help me...

im going to the states soon--particularly in colorado
and im wondering: will it be cheaper there? how much does a psp cost anyway?

here's basically my inquiry:

> what version should i be looking for? is it the best? exactly how many versions are there anyway? are the latest versions better?

> what's a homebrew? is that a file like the 'iso'?

> how bout a firmware?

pardon the ignorance :?

i think psp's have the same price here and abroad, mukhang mas mahal pa nga sa states kasi ikaw pa mismo ang magdadowngrade ng version kung sakali. dito kasi downgraded/upgraded na agad yung version pag nabili mo, so you could play iso games from your memory card. kung sa mall ka bibili ng psp, price range ata ng core/standard pack is 10k-11k, pag value pack tapos may kasamang 2gb/4gb, nasa 15k-16k.

as for the version, try to look for a psp with 3.03oe-c firmware version, pwede ka na maglaro using your memory card, copy ka na lang ng iso games para hindi ka na bibili ng umd games to play. don't buy the latest firmware version dahil mas mahirap ito idowngrade. masyadong madaming versions ng psp, pero common and 1.5, 2.8, 3.0, 3.03oe-c, 3.10oe-a. yung may mga "oe" are custom firmwares, hacked na yung software non kaya again, pwede na maglaro ng iso games without the need of the original umd game cd.

homebrew means custom applications created by developers/hackers, iso/cso is a file version of the umd, so parang vcd converted to avi.

psp version = firmware.

my advice, dito ka na lang bumili sa pinas, there is a risk of bricking (damaging) the firmware of your psp pag ikaw ang nagdowngrade/upgrade, that makes your psp unusable. mas madami pang freebies pag dito ka nakabili.

so if i buy the psp with 3.03oe-c firmware version, do i still have to downgrade that?

wait lang... with the way your saying downgrade, i think it means something else; does it? or is it just me? :|

@blah

tama si bro rennell.. basta ang firmware e may "oe" sa dulo, downgraded na sya from a higher firmware (sony's official firmware) or originally has a 1.5 version firmware na inupgrade lang sa "oe" custom firmware...

ang "1.5 version firmware" kase ang tinatawag sa psp homebrew scene na "golden firmware".. meron kase sya security exploit na ginagamit ng mga homebrew coders para mag-run ng mga homebrew programs... yan din dapat ang pinaka base firmware (1.5) mo pag first time ka mag-u-upgrade sa "custom firmware" of your choice.

so if your gonna buy a new psp.. make sure na 1.5 version ang firmware ng psp or much better if naka custom firmware na (preferably 3.03 oe-c custom firmware) so you could play ISO games off your memory card (saves you from buying those expensive UMDs  :-D) as well as run hombrew programs.

do you guys think a 3.03oe-c custom firmware is available in the states considering the fact that there have been new versions?

so my only option is a 3.03oe-c custom firmware? and if its not available, then? ... i have no option but to keep on looking? or do you think i should just buy one here sa pilipinas?

salamat sa tulong!

no need to downgrade the psp if the version is 3.03oe-c because its already a custom firmware.

yes, available ang 3.03oe-c firmware sa states, downloadable kasi yun, but you have to do it by yourself, and risk bricking your psp, thus making it unusable. custom firmware allows you to play iso/cso games on your psp, those firmwares are created by hackers, therefore, it is considered "piracy", so bawal talaga sya gawin, lalo na sa states, if i were you, i would just purchase my psp here because of the freebies and you don't have to upgrade to custom firmware by yourself, the seller usually does that.
