you dont need the hold function to do that.
all you need to do have i Paul Gilbert's expert timing lol
no seriously, just pick a delay mode (probably 300ms) then the delay knob around 2-4 o'clock, feedback around 2 o'clock, level to your choice.
play your piece, then stomp on the delay for the delay effect, then dial the Delay Time Knob counterclockwise, reducing the time in between delays, thus changing the pitch and speed of the delay
